Today I am sharing with you the Beekeeper Honey Wheat Ale by the GIZMO Brewworks in Raleigh, North Carolina.

FUN FACT: Raleigh is the Capitol of North Carolina named after Sir Walter Raleigh.

Sir Walter Raleigh received a grant from Queen Elizabeth I to discover and rule over any heathen lands not already held by a Christian Prince. Rather than exploring lands himself, Sir Walter Raleigh sent a group of colonists to Roanoke Island in North Carolina in the second attempt by the English to establish a permanent settlement in America. The first colony, also on Roanoke Island, quit and returned to England.

The first English child born in America, Virginia Dare, was born in the colony of Roanoke.

Contact with the colony was cut off for an extended period of time due to the outbreak of Queen Anne's War. When the English were finally able to send a relief ship to the colony all that remained was an abandoned stockade.

The great mystery of the "Lost Colony of Roanoke" has throughout the years caused a great deal of speculation as to what happened on the island that forced the colonists to leave.

A wheat beer should be light bodied with a hint of fruit or spices.

Lets see what GIZMO BrewWorks has to say about this beer.

Wow, look at all those awards! I am getting a little excited.

Pours out well with a large foamy head and highly carbonated. The appearance is light yellow with exceptional clarity, so far all the signs of a classic ale.

The taste is in fact honey sweet with the clove lingering on the back of the palate. It is in fact just a hint of clove. This is a very light-bodied brew and fully delivers as an ale.

Another great North Carolina craft beer.

Peace and have a great Saturday!
