I became a beer blogger because of the years I have spent brewing for myself, the breweries I work with now on their technology and marketing, and the decades spent imbibing combine for the self-decreed title of the #Blockchain #Beerologist.
For week 233, I am heading back into the swing of taprooms and new beer discovery.
Pint of the Week!
The pint of the week is a popular feature on Zeke's Sweet Hops as I reflect on a social pint usually shared somewhere out in the community over the busy week. A moment to reflect on a nice craft beverage and share it with the masses.
This week, we are back at https://heritagehopsbrew.com/ taking advantage of our exclusive mug club steins, and enjoying another of many 21 Haze - East Coast IPA https://heritagehopsbrew.com/collections/ipa/products/21-haze-east-coast-ipa Solid beer and our mugs sit on the shelf waiting for us to use them again the next visit.
This one tasted so good, we decided to order another one along with some Tostadas! We like to drink in the benefits of having breweries as clients!
Another Hazy Beer Indeed!
I can't remember the last time I reviewed a Kensington Brewing Company https://www.kensingtonbrewingcompany.com/ beer if ever. I do enjoy discovering and blogging about new beers and this is one of those so let's get into it!
The design on this one looks like a C+ in a grade 10 art class collage project but I am a sucker for Hazy New England IPAs so this one naturally jumped off the shelf and into my hand. A silly looking label, only 5.5% ABV and a brewery that isn't really on my radar didn't have my hopes high but great for my quest to drink at least one of every beer on the planet.
The description is funnier than it is informative but you have hazy, hops, and JUICE in capitals so it can't be bad. Truth is I was surprised at how solid this sweet and bold beverage is! I would have been happy with another notch in the belt but I have to classify this beer as "I would like to try this again" and shall if it is available next time.

More Great Flying Monkeys
It has been a while since I showcased a Flying Monkeys Brewery https://www.flyingmonkeys.ca/ beer. As a bit of a review for my newer followers, Flying Monkeys has boldly brewed groundbreaking and iconic IPAs for over a decade. They are partially responsible for my slide into IPA obsession and have consistently cranked out new variations which never seem to disappoint. Those who have been here a while will recognize the distinct branding which is a great hint at the beer inside.
The kitty on the side panel with the big mouth has some nice things to say about Psycho Thrill Seekers Double IPA https://www.flyingmonkeys.ca/beers/psychothrillseekers They had me at Flying Monkeys and Double IPA but keep pouring on the hits with Citra, Mosaic and Idaho7 hops...probably my favourite combination when done right. Some neat additions which would annoy the purists but the lemon zest and touch of coriander make for an even better body.
You can see the floaties in this unfiltered beer which I am not always enthused about. Is it meant to be that way? Could they have finished it off by properly filtering out the particles or were they left in there on purpose? Was this just the last part of the kettle? Either way, this Double IPA is as fantastic as any of the others I have enjoyed from my friends at Flying Monkeys.
Well done old friends. Not the first and most likely not the last time you will earn the seal of approval. Time to plan the midwinter beer festival and make sure we have you there again.
