We are BACK and my Fridge is Happy!

The #beersaturday world is in an uproar at my having missed last week's edition because of a little travel. Fear not as it is one of only 3 times I have done so in years, and my fridge is plenty happy.

2 weeks ago, we finished off a nice variety box to sample a variety of 6 new IPAs I had never tasted.
https://hive.blog/beersaturday/@zekepickleman/a-beersaturday-box-of-fun-the-sequel Since then, there has been plenty of nice seasonal surprises and controlled/minimal social gatherings at which to enjoy them.

Let us have a peek into my fridge and discover what I managed to snag this week!

Before we get started...

Here is the hallowed beer section in the fridge. The stock rises and falls between trips to the breweries and I have to make sure it doesn't get too empty. If I do, then I run out of beer to drink (which cannot happen to a Beerologist!) and the veggies start to take over this space.

This is a nice mixture of some of the best beers in this region and my fridge is indeed happy! Lets take a look at each of them.

Collective Arts Numbered IPA series

IMG_0278.jpg

The numbered, limited run series of IPAs from Collective Arts Brewing https://collectiveartsbrewing.com/ is probably the longest running series I have managed to follow. I have sampled most of them as they came out and am wondering if I should delve into them at some point.

IPA Number 14 https://collectiveartsbrewing.com/stories/ipa-no-14-launch/ is described as a "massive ripe tropical fruit and citrus bomb" and does not disappoint. Over the last couple years, the recipes have evolved to the point where brewers are coupling Citra hops with complementary ones instead of anything they have available. I am not overly familiar with Motueka but have had quite a few New England IPAs with Idaho 7 so I was right in assuming this one would be good.

The art is not local but Canadian by burgeoning illustration artist Graeme Zirk http://www.graemezirk.com/ hailing from west coast Vancouver, BC. I like how purposely chaotic this illustration is as IPAs tend to be a little noisy on the taste buds.

Checking out his website is a nice adventure and I recommend he reprise this piece for the steaming bag of 2020 which seems to have fallen on all of us.

Hazy Days hazy juicy IPA from Cowbell Brewing https://store.cowbellbrewing.com/collections/craft-beer/products/hazy-days up the road has become one of my go-to brews, and even cracked the top 5 (based on taste and availability.) There was a little interruption in the supply as I couldn't seem to find it a month or so and I grew worried. Relieved I was when I discovered it back on the shelf, in my box, and accompanying these other fantastic brews in my happy fridge.

One of my most popular pictures this year was the deck shot of Haze Mama https://www.greatlakesbeer.com/Beer/hazemama/ Also in my lofty top 5, I like to bounce between this and Hazy Days so I do not get tired of either, and am rewarded by both. Perfect addition to this collection and starts the post off with 2 home runs.

It seemed to be a bounty of Great Lakes beer as I also discovered a little surprise in the form of Karma Citra IPA.
https://www.greatlakesbeer.com/Beer/karma-citra/ This one would contend for a spot in my top 5 if it was available year round. As it is, I can only get it in the autumn which is another reasons why I love the fall so much.

I will pick this up and liven up any selection I make as long as it is available.

Thrust (and IPA) by Great Lakes is a fantastic beer I credit with helping me slide down happily into IPA enjoyment. Most recently, I purchased some of a limited run in those cool little small cans I like to enjoy when a full pint is just too much. https://www.greatlakesbeer.com/Beer/thrust-an-ipa/ is presently back in those tall cans and is equally as sweet and strong as it was in the summer.

I remember it being just listed as an IPA before the NEIPA craze. The last 2 runs have been to use hops and yeast more akin to this style and has made such a sweet and delicious variety. I am hesitating to drink the last one in the fridge!

Sometimes, I am stocked with a great variety of beers, many of which I am tasting for the first time for the sake of the beer blog and constant discovery. Other times, I have a good assortment of the regulars and top 10. This #beersaturday, I have the most beautiful assortment of old favourites which have never been assembled together in all my years of beerology.

May your fridge be as happy as mine, and may you share the joy of a great beer no matter what the season.

How happy is your fridge this week?

Sort:

How are you dear friend @zekepickleman good night
We are always pleasantly surprised, my refrigerator would also be very happy with a beer stock like that.
of all the ones you have taught us I think I would like to try the
¨IPA from Cowbell Brewing¨
Excellent choice as always. enjoy it a lot
I take this opportunity to wish you a splendid doingo

It really is good. The first time I had it, it was a Mango Hazy IPA which I LOVED. Then this one came out, and almost immediately went into permanent rotation. So sweet and hazy and good.

We have a Karma Citra IPA in Australia from a brewery called Feral which is one of my favourite beers - ours is a Black IPA - the fruitness of the Citra hops work so well with the roasty malts.
