What are the disadvantages if I do not? I rather just leave my old social in the past

It's recommended to do some kind of verification if you're posting articles that can be found elsewhere because people have impersonated others trying to get money before. You could make a text file that says Steemit or something like that in the website's root directory and link it here if you didn't want to do something more public.

I see, so when a robot identifies this is similar to content elsewhere, and i do not verify I am the elsewhere source, i get lower ranked in some way? THANKS for helping understand
