Indonesia is often considered as one of the best countries in the world for scuba diving. This reputation is rightfully given, as the country offers divers a vast range of areas to explore. In Indonesia alone you will be able to see over 3,000 different species of Fish!
Even the Great Barrier Reef only has 1,500 different species of Fish. This is only one reason why you should head to Indonesia and see what the it has to offer for yourself!
Bali
Bali is one of the best places in the world to dive. The Indonesian province is such a great place to dive because it offers many different places to dive at all skill levels. This is rare in many places as you normally need to be an experienced diver.
There are three main areas to dive in: South Bali, the east coast of Bali, and the north-west coast of Bali. There are so many attractions under the sea in Bali. Visit Manta Point if you are eager to see Manta Rays. Crystal Bay is home to the rare Mola-Mola fish. Last but not least, Liberty Shipwreck, which is one of the best ship-wrecks to visit in the world. Due to its depth you need to be advanced open water certified and an air integrated dive computer is recommended.
Amed
Amed is another fantastic area to dive in Indonesia. The best thing about Amed is that there is hardly ever a current which means nice relaxed diving. The calm current is coupled with beautiful marine life and amazing corral, meaning that you are going to have an amazing, stress-free time while you visit this masterpiece underwater.
Because of the low risk Amed offers, there are opportunities for divers to visit the undersea world during night time, which will surely be a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Komodo Island
Komodo is a marine sanctuary, a true underwater masterpiece. Unfortunately, diving in Komodo Island is generally reserved for people that have experience in diving, simply because the current is strong. If you are lucky enough to dive here, you will be in for a treat.
You will have the opportunity to see many different species of fish, especially bigger types. For example, you may see manta rays, barracudas, and even sharks! This particular area is rich in marine life, so make sure you bring your cameras and a fog free scuba mask because you won’t ever visit a place like Komodo Island again.
Raja Ampat
Raja Ampat is widely considered as the richest place for marine life on earth. If you are interested in seeing many different species of marine life, then you need to visit this dive site. This is a great place for beginners because the sites are very shallow and there is no current to speak of.
Gili Islands, Lombok
Gili Islands is another beautiful place for divers to visit. Specifically, people who dive here get the opportunity to swim with Turtles! If that doesn’t get you excited, then I don’t know what will.
Although Gili island isn’t as amazing than other diving areas around Indonesia, it still worth going to. It is a great place for people to learn how to dive, and once again, you get to swim with Turtles!
Some great tips. I love scuba diving and have been in Thailand. I have just joined and i post about travel if you would like to follow me :) Also have a free giveaway on my post
Agree that Bali, Amed (which is also in Bali), and Gili dives are beautiful!! But maybe you should try diving in Sulawesi and Maluku, then you'll probably re consider the list :p
