I am an almost full time betfair/sports trader. I am focusing providing odds for the smaller markets, and also hunting for errors in pricing.
It's too bad Betfair started to destroy the exchange and favor the sportsbook.
The volumes are declining in the last years, I hope Augur or some new player force betfair to focus on the exchane and not on their sportsbook.
I know what you mean, however I think they are committed to supporting the exchange as they have such a huge market share.
