Yeh..you can but I honestly don't know why people would. Seems better imo to use them on content you create and want to boost visibility on...
or do that for someone else who may have otherwise been ignored.
Or my personal favorite--as a token to be rewarded to people who compete in competitions for work you need done. For instance, like our Logo, Writing and Rap Contests :)
