The 1998 paper is entitled The Big Bang Argument for that the Existence of God and is a rebuttal to the viewpoints held by Hugh Ross, noted astronomer and Christian apologist, since expressed in his book The Creator and the Cosmos. The impetus of Dr. Schick's paper is to discredit Dr. Ross's contention that the approval of the concept of the Big bang since the start of the universe implies that it has to had an origin beyond the event itself, and Dr. Schick's corollary emptiness that this assertion is nothing, but a updated variation of St. Thomas Aquinas's Uncaused first cause debate to demonstrate the presence of God.

I do not contest Dr. Schick's views on this point. The meat of Dr. Schick's rebuttal to Dr. Ross's views is that Dr. Ross positions a upper dimensional time, a time wherein the spacetime we live and know inside was created: the founder's time. Considering that the big bang is held to be that the start of time. Ross arguesthat implies it has to had an origin, as did the start of everything else. Since the big bang is the start in our time, then its cause can't have been inside our time, instead, it has to have been inside the higher dimensional time of the founder that Dr.

Ross positions. This debate arrives at the conclusion that the world has a beginning in time by imagining that the world has an origin. However the big bang debate uses the premise that the world has a beginning in time to reach the conclusion that the world has an origin. So Ross would be arguing in a circle. He's imagining that the world has a cause to show that the universe has a cause. It had been Hermann Minkowski. Einstein's erstwhile mathematics tutor, who primary pointed out to him who his special concept of relativity implied a four dimensional universe, now commonly referred to as the Block universe. In this scheme of reality, period is reduced to a mere 4th dimension, with the consequence being that the world can no longer be seen as being Composed of distance and time, but instead as an unified structure called Spacetime, together with events inside the universe occurs at that the confluence of four dimensional points.

Here's the rub: In case the past, present and future all at once, and if by definition an origin has to precede its effect, then how could that the origin in this example have preceded its effect when that the baby and her or his parents exist contemporaneously and eternally? Just since a painting's obvious orderly composition didn't result from any event inside the canvass, but instead from order imposed from without, that the undeniable order who permeates our reality and makes our very existences possible must equally have been imposed from without, by a founder of some kind.
