Hi to everyone in the community, I want to share a stroll with my friend Edward Romero.
Fuimos en las bicis, aprovechando la flexibilización momentánea de la cuarentena en Barquisimeto (donde vivimos) y en el cual nos conseguimos con algunas sorpresas.
We went on the bikes, taking advantage of the momentary easing of the quarantine in Barquisimeto city (where we live) and in which we had some surprises.
La idea original en este paseo era aprovechar para observar algunas aves autóctonas y conseguir la fotografía del verdadero Cardenal Larense (Estado Lara - Spinus cucullatus), el cual es un emblema para nuestra ciudad y muchas veces es confundido con el cardenal coriano (Estado Falcón - Cardinalis phoeniceus).
The original idea on this ride was to observe some native birds and get the photograph of the true Cardinal of city (Lara State - Spinus cucullatus), which is an emblem for our city and is often confused with the Corian cardinal (Falcón State - Cardinalis phoeniceus).
Salímos apróximadamente a las 10:00 am con un día algo nublado y con bastante humedad. El viaje lo realizamos en el municipio Iribarren, parroquia Tamaca del Estado Lara (Venezuela). La ruta que pensamos pasaba por los caseríos Rastrojitos, Las Playitas, La Escalera, y otros caseríos mas pequeños.
We left at 10:00 am on a somewhat cloudy and humid day. The trip was made in the Iribarren municipality, Tamaca, Lara State (Venezuela). The route that we thought passed through "Rastrojitos", "Las Playitas", "La Escalera", and other smaller villages.
Nos detuvimos en varias lagunas estacionarias a la espera, pero sin tener mucha suerte ya que las lluvias no han terminado de llenar estas, lo que mantiene aun a las aves mucho más adentro en las montañas.
We stopped at several stationary lagoons waiting, but without much luck as the rains have not yet finished filling these, keeping even the birds much further in the mountains.
Nos topamos con este ejemplar de Pachyramphus rufus en la zona es conocido como o cabezón cinéreo.
We stumbled upon this specimen of Pachyramphus rufus in the area known as or grayhead.

Aquí un ejemplar del periquito mastrantero o Forpus passerinus, asomando un poco la cabeza fuera de su casa.
Here is a copy of the mastrantero parakeet or Forpus passerinus, sticking its head out of its house a little.
Este bello animal, no era nuestro objetivo pero como se nos presento para la fotografía no pudimos dejarlo Perezosa (folívoros - filófagos)
This beautiful animal wasn't our objective, but as it was presented to us for photography we could not leave it. Lazy (folivores - phylophages)
Observamos este bello ejemplar, por un momento cuando vimos el color rojo combinado con el negro pensamos que nos habíamos conseguido con el muy perseguido cardenal, pero solo era un Atrapa moscas sangre de toro (Titiribí - Pyrocephalus rubinus) En algunos caseríos de la zona también le llaman San Antonio por creencias religiosas.
We observed this beautiful specimen, for a moment when we saw the red color combined with the black we thought that we had achieved with the persecuted cardinal, but it was only a bull's blood flycatcher (Titiribí - Pyrocephalus rubinus) In some villages in the area they also call it San Antonio for religious beliefs.
Lamentablemente en este paseo no pudimos dar con el esquivo cardenal, es lamentable como el ser humano en esta zona ha atacado mucho a las especies y es difícil dar con especies que por ser muy hermosas han sido utilizadas para el comercio de fauna silvestre, hecho muy lamentable.
Unfortunately on this ride we could not find the elusive cardinal, it is unfortunate that humans have attacked beautiful species a lot to use them in the wildlife trade, which we strongly reject.
