According to the official statement of the police of the Chinese city of Maanshan several miners of Bitcoin was arrested for theft of electricity. Any additional information besides what was seized 74 device for mining, not yet reported. Coincidence or not, but about the same time, June 8, there was a slight sagging of complexity of mining of approximately 1.63%.
In the police press release reads:
"After a month of investigation, on June 1, when all the people celebrated the international children's day, a team of police, together with the energy company, the shock worked. Was viewed 3 premises, where the extraction of bitcoins is carried out the theft of electricity. Police seized 74 of device for mining. This operation was an important step in combating theft of electricity."
That Chinese miners are stealing electricity, it is known for the second time. In the past year as a result of a joint investigation of the police and energy companies seized 200 mining devices.
Theft of electricity in China is punishable by imprisonment. The offender may be sentenced to a few years, and sometimes, in exceptional cases, even for life. What is even more interesting - sometimes, and devices for mining are stolen. In December last year, 4 kidnapped Chinese mining equipment amounting to approximately 250 000 US dollars.
One of the suspects, Yang, Moumou ( Yang Moumou), admitted to the crime and showed police the place where the equipment. He said that after he hired three more accomplices, they drove the car to the walls of the mining farm, drilled a hole in the wall, took out the equipment in the nearby city of van and hid it. After the crime, the equipment was returned to its rightful owners.
To date, China occupies a dominant role in the global Bitcoin mining. However, this is a pretty risky business, as natural disasters such as flood, fire or earthquake can turn the equipment worth millions of dollars in a useless iron.
And even if all goes well, mining is a constant race in which you need to always be a step ahead of the constantly rising complexity, which in comparison with November 2015, today has nearly tripled.
Cruelty mainiga demonstrates the fact that almost all the current mining pools and farms are relatively young. For example, the mining pool Ghash which is 2 years ago at times controlled more than 50% Hasrat Bitcoin, now owns only a small stake, as well as the once most popular and now defunct pool BTCGuild.
However, it seems that the existing large mining farms like Bitfury and Bitmain datacenters, give their owners a good income, because in this year the company managed to invest in several new companies. However, it is difficult to predict how long it will last for their success, since many factors which make mining profitable now, might change suddenly, dropping downhill major mining companies as it happened with KnC.
