I believe this death will be a bit more serious due to how much better (on paper) BCC is than BTC. BCC has the issue of block size solved for at least 2-4 x the time BTC will have it solved for (only 2MB) and is much cheaper than BTC.
I expect most BTC to slowly trickle into BCC as users realize that BCCs goals are better, the team cares more, and there's more room for profit (due to cheaper price).
