What I Have Learned About Raising Money

Some of you might know that I have one of the only professional baseball leagues opperating in North America. We play out of historic League Stadium in Huntingburg, Indiana. It was no small task during a global pandemic.

The original team that I was supposed to have is named the California Dogecoin and was going to play out of Fairfield, California in the Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs.

The pandemic hit and I was able to lock down another stadium where they would allow us to play.

I had to pop up 3 other teams and form a new league. It has been an enormous amount of work to say the least.

Normally you are going to spend all off season chasing down sponsorships and preparing for the season. Often those sponsorships are locally based.

Oddly because of all the delays we had only begun that process in Fairfield, California when the pandemic hit and wouldn't accept any money because of the uncertainty.

On a national / world level I thought crypto projects would want to sponsor the team for exposure especially when we were going to play in the Bay Area. I was wrong. Even with all the so called funding models for these different projects none of them wanted any part of it.

On an individual level there were some HODLers that wanted to sponsor things personally but with the pandemic most people's businesses got messed up.

So once again no money came from that.

Ultimately the whole league is self funded with zero sponsors. Absolutely unheard of to say the least.

** What I Have Learned **

In general it would be easier to sell a dream or opperate a scam than to actually put a tangible product out there.

As far as the crypto projects with DAO I hate to say it but it is mainly a front. For the most part it sounds good on paper but under the surface it is just set up to feed the people who already control the system. Just like in HIVE or STEEM it is just another way to fund themselves. For instance an insider can just say they are going to do a certain thing and might get $8,000 to do that and maybe it cost them $200 in hosting costs or whatever but they can keep tapping into it over and over again and know their buddies will all vote for them....etc.

Is this much different than how anything else works? Not really. It isn't unique to the crypto world. It is human nature.

** Crypto Scams **

A huge thing that I have learned overtime is that a person would have an easier time getting someone to part with $1,000 if they are fictitiously told they are going to make some unrealistic return than it would be to ask for $1 where the return is more intangible. More of a donation or something that might not promise an immediate monetary return.

That is why garbage like Bitconnect was so successful. Despite telling everyone that it was a ponzi and an illegal pyramid scheme that would ultimately implode. People kept investing and talking smack to me in the YouTube comments...etc

There isn't much money that can be earned trying to save people from their own stupidity.

But on the flip side you could sell some pipe dream and act like it is the next big thing and make millions. It is a lesson in human nature Unfortunately.

As for the league we will keep thugging it out for the time being. We have some real indyball G's here grinding it out.

Please upvote this post and hopefully we can get it up to $5 USD to pay for 1 baseball. We go through 36 per game that fly out of the stadium.

My contribution to your project, not much but...

Every bit counts

I think there will always be scams and people who are short sighted, having a future vision and understanding of exponential growth is a gift very few have, they will pocket what they can while they can and cut off their nose to spite their face. I don't see this is a bad thing.

I work in digital marketing and most people want short cuts so they fail and customers come to me, sadly they are burned but still eventually it weeds itself out. Sucks that this is the state of affairs but what can we do but offer a good service to people

Very true. It's tough having a legit business and providing something real but we can't break bad just because we are knee deep in scammers.

Good on you dude for starting the baseball league. Love the bp logo 😁. You're killing it!

I dont use hive anymore as i dont feel like it's progressing and youre right, the DAO supports the higher ups that want to fund themselves without posting.

Very good 😀
