I think you are precisely correct about this. I would add one more bit of advice: Take some of your Steem and open an account at http://bitshares.org because that is an excellent, private, distributed exchange where you can learn the basics of trading without having banks and governments involved.
In other words, anyone with some ambition can begin to learn, earn, trade, and save crypto with nothing more than sweat equity.
