How an ICO can easily get stolen and tips for protection. Lessons from Superior Coin

in #bitcoin7 years ago (edited)

An ICO or Initial Coin Offering can be stolen easily if the right measures are not in place. Recently I ran one for Superior Coin with disastrous results.
You can see the way the theft has been carried out by the comments on this post. A group of about 10 thieves have created dozens of accounts in an attempt to carry out the theft by trying to make people believe that my database, my savings and my business did not even belong to me. They have left my wife and I with our clothes and our laptops and now they have to try and get away with it. In broad daylight. It is amazing to watch. Look at their repetitive and completely empty accusations and comments. I have not even bothered to use their down voting methods to try to get them removed from Steemit.

So some tips
The most important thing is to show zero trust in anybody in your team. I trusted and I just lost several million dollars and several years work and investment. Luckily for my wife and I we were not in this for money so will continue on our path to helping the environment and people's health. We are still in a daze about having everything taken but we still have our clothes and laptops and will recover.

So some random tips.

  1. If possible to not begin your public blockchain until after the ICO is finished. This will greatly diminish the chance of all your money and all your coins being stolen together.
  2. Divide tasks. If possible do not allow anybody access to anything but if this is not possible make sure of these things. Do not allow one programmer access to both coins and money. Especially do not allow them access to your database or your social media accounts.
  3. People nowadays have the attitude that if they can get away with stealing something then they somehow deserve it as their own property. People now barely care about wrong or right and in general will not support you when you are stolen from. They will gravitate towards supporting the thief as the thief is the one who now has the means to pay them.
  4. Do not expect help from the courts or the police or enforcement authorities they simply will not care.
  5. It is not much help to have built a community around your project if you are stolen from. The community will immediately side with the thief making the recovery of your property even more difficult. People will just go where the money is.
  6. If possible tell nobody your business plan as the thief will simply steal it
  7. Use cold storage wallets to store your crypto currency do not keep it on an exchange it is too easy for the thief to get at.
  8. Use double factor authentication wherever you can.
  9. Do not be lulled into giving even the slightest bit of trust even if a team member lives in your house for 8 months as Nathan Senn did with me. It is possible that he had this planned for as long as 2 years since he first started working for me.
  10. Keep your premined coins or your tokens in a wide variety of secret places so if say 90% of them get stolen you will at least be left with something.
  11. Nobody in the crypto currency world will care less about you. It is a cold, evil jungle where everybody is out for themselves. Accept this and deal with it.
  12. Forums such as Bitcoin Talk and Facebook are pay to play. Administrators and staff are routinely bribed so do not accept assistance. My Superior Coin Facebook page was stolen by Nathan Senn gaining remote access to my computer and making himself an admin and then deleting my wife and I. After promising initially to immediately reverse this Facebook then went cold. The people there had obviously been bribed. We are having to take Facebook to court to recover our stolen page. A huge hassle and would not have happened on Steemit. Of course the thieves Colin Sydes @sydesjokes, Joan Stewart @joanstewart and John Gentry @exploretravel and others are blocking any adverse comment or questions on all posts there.
  13. Bitcoin Talk will delete any posts you try to make if you are not paying them hefty bribes. I have several instances of proof about this. I have a list of 8 consecutive deleted Bitcoin Talk posts and several people in our growing team of supporters are finding that their posts are deleted too. It is amazing. I have had several Bitcoin Talk admins and early users contact me and seek bribes. They will do nothing for under $10,000.

Michael Q Todd is an internet scammer and stole bitcoins from his own community. Thief. He has been attacking and harassing women like @JoanStewart and Johnna Sabri who has had death threats. http://johnnasabri.com/slander

Johnna was first to be accused in 2015, Rhea was second in line 2016 and now 2017 you are gunning for people due to your own demise?

Bad Business Management, bad business ethics, disgusting behaviour online. "No Comment"

I immediately put up notice to disassociate myself from you and your business, I will not enter into slandering online, defamation, nor get drawn into mud slinging lowering my own self-respect.

Having left you alone, do not malign me nor accuse me of theft which never transpired.

this guy is the thief, him and his are working on the next scam... dont ever get involved with any thing that his name is attached too... and stay away from his so called partners too. The lies run so deep its to tell which one of you are speaking the truth... my guess you guys are all in on the scam.

I can not help you much... but at least I resteemed this posting so I hope many people notice about this :)

@happyphoenix, he is the scammer. Do not be taken advantage by your good nature.

You've been running scams since I first met you back in 2012. Your entire online existence is a scam. You scammed me out of money for your website, you scammed Clayton, the people that paid you money using Paypal. -- for those of you reading, ask him, ask him what Paypal did recently. -- You know you're the scammer and you've got nowhere else to run. One day, it's all going to catch up with you.

Get fucked Michael. Paypal refunded the money to some of the people, the rest they didn't because you have no more money. But clearly Paypal saw through your scams. Paypal usually doesn't refund money for digital goods because they're so hard to track and prove, yet they sided with the consumer on this side. Just do yourself a favor, and go away. Nobody trusts you, nobody likes you, you are irrelevant and a sad excuse for a human being.

He actually did refund someone on PayPal then made a claim to get the money back from them. How pathetic is that.

So you can bribe law enforcement as you have claimed to have done already?

Not sure what the hell is going on with superior coin but I've just registered with their website after believing my coins were stolen and they are all back in my wallet on their website. This was after I saw a comment by someone on savage cash , FB page. Surely if they stole them they would have ran by now? Why then have they returned the coins and are continuing with the ICO? Makes no sense

If you've lost coins register with superior coin.com with the email you bought your coins with and they will all be there. I'm still confused as to what's going on but I have no option but to wait and see. I don't have a clue who is telling the truth but if all goes well with the ICO my thoughts may change. Here's hoping and waiting .

They are not stolen Michael Q Todd was trying to steal the ICO money but he was stopped. His has since closed the CrowdifyClub.com site and emptied everyones bitcoin wallet there. He is a thief stealing from his own community from people he claims to call friends. This is how he operates.

All 200 million Pre-mine coins are being locked with locked_transfer and SuperiorCoin will be posting the public Keys, so you may check for yourself if they are locked or not. As stated in the update here https://steemit.com/superiorcoin/@charlesx/breaking-superior-coin-team-releases-a-new-statement-covering-most-of-the-points-the-community-asked-great-news-for-anyone the 200 million Pre-mine will be used for Rewards on website. The Other 100 million are funded in wallets for the people that purchased in ICO, and there is an allotment of that 100 million for those that test mined.

Kryptonia.io is Live, and will be handling the sales of SuperiorCoins to BTC and BTC to SuperiorCoins. There also is a task area, voting area, bank, and soon to be exchange and purchase area. https://kryptonia.io and https://the-superior-coin.com with SSL activated on both. Both pages use same login information.
Please note: At this time only coins ON HOLD are available for sale and purchase.

Sure coin is dead and will never reach an exchange. Check the pathetic announcement page on BitcoinTalk where Todd was begging people to but from his new ICO scam

It was not your money in the bitcoin wallets on your CrowdifyClub.com site it belonged to your community members who you claimed were your friends. Thief.

Check your database. You have all the information.

You are a scammer and a thief. This is why your own family has shun you, this is why you had to run away from your own home land, this is why you were imprisoned in Japan, this is why you make a lot of noise with nonsense. Smoke and mirrors to distract people from the truth.

Let's not jump into conclusions this is blockchain everything we post is recorded, does anyone has proof?
