Financial incumbents see Bitcoin as a threat to their corrupt ways of milking the federal cash cow. On the other hand, tech people tend to exaggerate the power of what technology can achieve.
The truth lies somewhere in the middle most likely.
I don't think Bitcoin will replace the dollar or government fiat currencies like many dream anytime soon (it can't because of technical and political reasons) but I do believe it will definitely be a very good replacement for Gold.
I agree with you about the store of value versus the money aspect....
My point is the store of value comes from so many developing apps (and building businesses) on the bitcoin blockchain.
And while tech people do exaggerate, I think when it comes to blockchain, the cat is out of the bag....this system is going to take over the internet. 10-15 years from now, most everything will be recorded on blockchains.
