Foi em 31 de outubro de 2008 que o anônimo misterioso de codinome “Satoshi Nakamoto” escreveu em um e-mail:
“I’ve been working on a new electronic cash system that’s fully peer-to-peer, with no trusted third party” Satoshi Nakamoto, Oct. 31, 2008, 06:10:00 PM
E desse trabalho se originou o famoso Bitcoin Whitepaper.
A ideia não só virou realidade, como sobreviveu por todo esse tempo até chegarmos onde estamos hoje, com toda uma economia girando em torno das criptomoedas.
Se o bitcoin tem sido um sucesso ou fracasso nesses seus dez anos de vida é algo debatível, a depender do ponto de vista. É aquela velha história do copo meio cheio ou meio vazio.
Ele poderia ter sido muito mais, principalmente no que diz respeito a conseguir a adoção em massa. Infelizmente ainda é algo de nicho, embora bem menos do que no seu início, onde só era usado por “cypherpunks” de linha libertária.
Porém uma coisa é certa, só o fato de ele ter sobrevivido todo esse tempo, e não só isso, ter gerado “filhos” e criado toda uma economia em torno das criptomoedas já é por si só algo respeitável. Acho que nem o Satoshi imaginou que sua ideia chegaria tão longe e se proliferaria em tantas vertentes e mais de 1000 altcoins.
A verdade é que uma nova era da internet monetizável foi inaugurada, embora não sem percalços. Como tudo o que é muito novo e imaturo, gera muitas dúvidas e falhas. Mas o aperfeiçoamento e lapidação é constante, e no longo prazo é isso o que importa.
Quem não lembra das primeiras versões do sistema operacional Windows? A ideia por trás dele de fazer tudo por meio de janelas era fantástica, ninguém duvidava. Porém não basta ter a ideia, tem que ter uma bela implementação, ou melhor, codificação daquela ideia.
Nos seus primórdios o Windows era cheio de bugs, mas mesmo assim ninguém voltava atrás pra usar o DOS. Era preferível ter as facilidades do Windows, mesmo com todos os bugs, do que ter que voltar a comandar o computador por meio de comandos de texto.
E é assim que eu vejo a ideia por trás das criptomoedas em geral. São ideias fantásticas, revolucionárias e disruptivas, daquelas que dividem a humanidade em antes e depois. Porém, a implementação prática dessas ideias ainda está amadurecendo, e esse processo não é sem contratempos.
Enfim, desejo vida longa ao bitcoin e toda a criptoesfera, e que daqui a dez anos possamos olhar para trás e “dar rizada” de como a coisa ainda era primária e precária, mas que revolucionou o mundo.
