What, seriously? Antonopoulos just argued that banks are to bitcoin and bitcoin is to blockchain as horse-drawn buggies are to automobiles and automobiles are to tires?? So the blockchain is the tires? No, my friend, blockchain is the internal combustion engine. Without blockchain, bitcoin doesn't exist.
AA is not a software developer, I guess, but to claim to be knowledgeable about bitcoin and then not understand that the blockchain is the only thing that makes bitcoin interesting... Complete nonsense.
To be fair, AA is probably more interested in the social implications of bitcoin, for which he may think blockchain is unnecessary. But he would be wrong. Blockchain is the technological innovation that made those social innovations possible. Instead of his analogy being that the buggy manufacturers are taking the tires from the car, it should be that they are taking the whole car, but putting a speed cap of 15mph on it. That would aptly express the nature of the banks' use of blockchains.
Was he just shooting from the hip? Had he written it in a book, perhaps he would have zeroed in perfectly with his analogy after being able to think about. Did we get what he was talking about? Yeah, pretty much. I get where you're coming from though. ;-)
I always thought of him as a promoter rather than a tech person. We need programmers and promoters to help mass acceptance along. I understand that programmers have a hard time understanding people like myself and Andreas but without us it will be difficult to bring the regular folks along because we speak their language.
Yes, but Bitcoin is not the end-all-be-all. Blockchain is the innovation, Bitcoin is the proof of concept. Getting that backwards does far more harm than good. It tells people that only Bitcoin is worth looking at, and everything that doesn't use Bitcoin is a silly me-too project. Steem is one of many examples of a brilliantly innovative piece of blockchain tech that has nothing to do with Bitcoin.
Was a great conversation on about the current state of global financial system we are in. The problems and how crypto currency can help change things. Here at CoExistCoin.com we are working on a crypto currency that helps humanity as a whole. Bitcoin shows a way how things can change. I loved this episode of Joe Rogan podcast

I should clarify, the interview as a whole is great though! After that embarrassing hiccup at the beginning, it's quite informative.

Tnx for this. I've watched all previous episodes with Endreas on Joe Rogan podcast.
It is a great video to start the day!
Andreas: "Yup" lol, never heard him say so little lol.
