The Scam
One day I opened up my Email to read this "I am a hac ker who has access to your ope rating system."
Okay, someone who doesn't know when to use the spacebar is smart enough to get into my computer. Ha ha... The threat here is: The hacker has a recording of me masturbating at the computer which will be released unless I pay.
Now it is a numbers game. The fraudster is banking on that some percentage of people are afraid of videos like this getting out. Now, if such a video is being made for me and a make up video can fetch $11,000 (right @roelandp ?) , well... please make one. I can link it here and get rich! But seriously, there is so much access to porn in this day and age, nobody is going to care about my video. But the real argument for this being a pure fraudulent scam is, it is trivial to change the background of my screen if you really have shell access to a computer. Why send an email? Don't be afraid of emails such as these. I get an email like this rather often.
So an empty threat is just that. Then the guy goes that I send 1 300 USD over the bitcoin network. Everybody who has a login to this service undoubtedly knows that you cannot send USD over a Bitcoin network.
So maybe I will turn this around. Instead of doing nothing with this scam, perhaps I can earn some Hive or HBD for writing a post about it. Do not interact with these scammers but put that energy into warning those who may get duped by them. No offense intended. Please spam Facebook and alike with links to this post.
