The European Commission launched a new blockchain -project # Blockchain4EU, whose activities are aimed at examining the socio-economic consequences of the introduction of blockchain-technologies in the euro area. The initiative is launched after two months ago the European Commission has already earmarked € 500,000 for a pilot investigation project for the detachment.
The new structure will study the "future socio-technical scenarios of production, distribution and use" of blockchain technologies. The launch of such a subdivision, controlled by the Directorate General for the Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship, most likely means that the EU is ready to introduce blockage in the very near future.
Previously, the EC was rather a wait-and-see attitude, regarding the use of the detachment. A new research project will be completed in February 2018. According to representatives of the European Commission, the structure intends to subsequently increase funding for research, despite the fact that two months ago, this initiative was already allocated € 500,000.
However, despite active research work, the European Central Bank continues to believe that it is premature to implement blockchain technologies, since they have not yet reached the stage of maturity.
