Public Testnet Officially Released: BORA Lagoon is Now Active

in #bitcoin6 years ago

After my first article about BORA, last week, I am now publishing a new article that contains recent updates on the platform. BORA has launched BORA Lagoon, which is the testnet version of their main platform BORA Island. The previously mentioned internal BORA point token has been renamed to BORA Swell.

BORA

BORA aims to create a decentralized platform for content creators to be connected to blockchain technology. Their main goal is to give content creators more resources and more control over their own content. The platform is called BORA Island (Mainnet) and it is set to launch in Q2 of 2019. This week BORA Lagoon has launched which is their testnet version.

BORA Island

BORA island will be comprised of 5 main features:

➡️ The chain will be highly scalable because it will be launched as a scalable sidechain based on the Ethereum blockchain. The modular structure will allow content creators to publish their content on the high-performance BORA platform.

➡️ Through the adoption of the Proof-of-Authority (PoA) consensus algorithm and linear performance by adding side-chain nodes, 2,200 transactions-per-second (TPS) can be attained.

➡️ Isolation will be accomplished which will assure an independent service environment.

➡️ An easy accessibility platform will be created that will allow content creators to participate in the ecosystem at minimum costs. Smart contracts will be implemented onto the network using dApps.

➡️ Variety, the dual-chain and token structure solves performance and commission issues and can be combined with an array of digital content. It will be ideal for data-driven services like games, entertainment and health information.

BORA Tokens

BORA has it own ERC20 token called BORA token. This token can be used as a means to exchange or store of value option. BORA tokens can be safely stored on a hardware wallet, as they are based on the Ethereum blockchain. BORA Swell is BORA’s second token that is used only to participate in internal blockchain activities. For instance, in the game that is available on the testnet, Tower Blocks, you can earn BORA Swell by playing the game.

Testnet features

BORA’s testnet has some interesting features:

➡️ BORA explorer: you can see the transactions on the testnet BORA blockchain after registering for a new account on the testnet.

➡️ In the testnet you can try out different functions, deposit, withdraw or transfer testnet BORA tokens, you can also exchange BORA ERC20 for BORA Swell tokens and vice versa.

➡️ Developer toolkits are available to interact with the testnet

Concluding remarks

The development team has been working on the BORA Lagoon testnet and they have launched it perfectly on schedule. They are asking for community members to sign up and interact with the testnet giving them some feedback on the development so far. After giving it an initial test drive I personally like its potential. The first game they added, called Tower Blocks, is pretty addictive (I couldn’t stop playing it). Over the next weeks I will further check out the testnet and I will try out new features as they appear. So far I really like what the team has developed.
