Analysts expect that the number of bitcoin users will reach 200 million by 2024. This has been estimated by the current exponential growth rate of bitcoin.
In March 2017 there were about 5 million unique users so there is still quite a journey to 200 million even though the recent rapid value grow has lifted the number of users already to near 15 million.
A Cambridge study revealed that the number of active users of bitcoin wallets was somewhere in the range of 2.9 million and 5.8 million.
Since March, proportional to the market valuation and price of bitcoin, the cryptocurrency’s user base has grown at a rapid rate. Coinbase alone, the global market’s largest bitcoin brokerage and wallet platform, serves more than 13 million active users. In November alone, Coinbase recorded 1.2 million users.
It remains to be seen if the bitcoin's userbase will cross the predicted 200 million mark or if there will be another canditate that can dethrone the current king of crypto currencies.
