BTC has begun to lose it's dominance and ETH is threatening to take over soon, if this trend continues.
The thing about ethereum is that it's more advanced than bitocoin. It has smart contracts, virtual machine, faster blocks, cheaper transaction costs etc. Also recent news have been pumping the price up hard (Putin met Buterin).
Hopefully bitcoin will see some improvements or consensus soon or it may fade.

yes, in some ways bitcoin is gold. think it will stay this way for a long time. we need payment channels soon though because the transaction cost is ridiculously high
Market cap is a misleading indicator. Volume and distribution tell a whole lot more.
Bitcoin will do fine.
There are days now that ETH beats BTC in volume also. ETH has the ICO space so ETH is in high demand.
