PSG will soon launch its own cryptocurrency

The Paris Saint-Germain football club should soon launch its own cryptocurrency with the key a hand extended to the fans allowing them to have more influence on the club.

PSG could soon become the first football club in the world to have its own cryptocurrency. The club announced on Tuesday the signing of an agreement with Chiliz, a Maltese start-up behind the Blockchain Socios.com platform for the creation of a cryptocurrency.

A mobile application will be launched in 2019 where users can buy PSG tokens and store them. These tokens will then allow each holder to obtain a voting right on projects proposed by the club.

It will not be a question of submitting the purchase of a new player to the vote of the users, but rather to sound the opinions on subjects more annexes like the choice of the jerseys for the following season, the place of the organization of a friendly game, meeting with players ... Users who have more chips will have more weight in the votes, but a limit will be fixed. The purchase of chips will also provide discounts on games or in the shop PSG, meet the players at specific events ...

Fans will be able to buy PSG tokens directly from the Socios app or indirectly by buying Chiliz on cryptocurrency stock exchanges before trading them for PSG tokens.

For now, the price of the PSG token has not been announced, but it should be around one euro, the launch is not expected before spring 2019. If the system will be a new source of income for Club, it's all about encouraging fans to get involved with the structure and to make new connections with the community.
