Gold/silver community hates fiat as much as the crypto world does, but they don't like bitcoin, where one of the reasons is that they believe altcoins like Ethereum, Litecoins will inflate the market.
However, little do they realized that in the precious material world, such phenomena existed too, but it doesn't cause any inflation. In addition to gold, people also value ruby, sapphire, crystal, and whatnot. Those objects also serve different purposes, like Ethereum for computing, Litecoin for fast transaction.
