We all know that Cryptocurrency is extremely volatile, yet we still invest in it. So why do we keep investing? Is it to try to make money like so many have done? Is it because we see the value of Blockchains and truly support the technology? Or is it a combination of both?
Regardless, I know we are all interested in where the market will be in the long run. Are your assets that you have invested in going to keep gaining in value? Will the whole market crash and burn? Or will it just keep bouncing up and down over the years with no clear pattern at all?
I wish I had those answers, I really do... but I don't. That being said, some of the biggest investors in the world, and some of the brightest technology companies are starting to hop on board. I personally think that they realize the value in this, which is why they are starting to jump on board. Some have even projected the total market cap making it well into the trillions. For those of you who don't know what that looks like, here is a picture.
Want to know what is even more difficult to grasp? There are about 60 major stock exchanges in the world worth around 70 trillion. With the crypto market looking at taking up a huge portion of this amount, it is unfathomable to comprehend how big it will get. If the market cap went to 1 trillion, and the Crypto world maintained a 40% Bitcoin dominance (close to what it is now), a single Bitcoin would be worth over $24,000. Even if all Bitcoins were in circulation it would reach just about $20,000.
People such as John McAfee, the guy who founded one of the worst Antivirus software's (in his defense he did leave the company early on), feels that the value of a Bitcoin may reach 1 million dollars. That is a crazy prediction, but I wouldn't expect anything less of him. Although it may be unlikely, you never know. Also, those kinds of speculations drive up the price because of FOMO (fear of missing out).
So, where will the total market cap be over the next 3 1/2 years? Here are my predictions based on my own research, opinions, and maybe wishful thinking. This may be too quick of a time-frame, but I foresee this happening at least in 5-7 years. Hopefully less.

Today - $124,000,000,000 (Heavy Chinese integration)
End of 2017 - $248,000,000,000 (Doubling by the end of the year)
Mid 2018 - $475,000,000,0000 (Top companies in the world get involved, military utilization)
End of 2018 - $640,000,000,000 (Banks get more involved which increases the market)
Mid 2019 - $800,000,000,000 (Top companies start moving to Blockchain technology)
End of 2019 - $920,000,000,000 (Military integration and budget)
Mid 2020 - $1,000,000,000,000 (The internet begins to change towards depending on Blockchains)
End of 2020 - $1,240,000,000,000 (Ten times the value today)
