The best way to track your crypto-portfolio

A brief overview of the best crypto portfolio trackers currently offered.

So you bought a gazzilion alt coins and got yourself into a million ICO's and now you're not even sure how much money you have, right ?

Well, me too. At some point I knew I was gonna need to centralize all my coins in one place, the problem was finding prices for all those tickers. Also, when the money on crypto started getting real (at least for my standards) I definitely had to treat it as an investment and keep track of its performance.

Ergo, I needed a software.

I ended up struggling a bit to find a few, so I thought I'd just come over and share with you all my findings.

Note: They are also useful if you only own a handful of coins but trade a lot and need some kind of performance tracker.

#10 Coin-Folio

Coin-Folio Very simple web based tool. You can manually import your trades into it. Nothing special about it.

#9 CoinGecko

A lot of people seem to use CoinGecko but i don't see anything special about it. The one pro they have is that it has a whole news platform integrated on it. Aside from that doesn't seem huge. It won't let you upload your balances to it, only lets you choose the coins you want to see the price.

#8 Coincap

A lot of good things being said about Coincap. The website does not let you do much, but it has a mobile app for both iOS and Android and lets you keep track of up to three portfolios.

#7 Lionshare

Lionshare is a Mac-only free app. Its design is quite attractive, although the app is very simplistic. It only lets you input the amount of each currency you own. Doesn't deal with trades at all.

Even so, it is a nice gadget to have on your Mac and glance at your holdings.

#6 Cryptofolio

Cryptofolio may not be good-looking, but is a quite flexible tool. It requires some technical knowledge (like being able to use an API). But in case that's for you, it's a good free tool to get the job done.

#5 CoinFYI

CoinFYI is not widely-known as most of the others, but it seems pretty interesting. They're web-based and mobile friendly and they give you an interesting feed of news for the coins you hold and also let you look at a Google Trends chart of the currencies you hold. Both are interesting ideas.

Unfortunately it also does not let you bulk upload trades. Moreover, it just gives you a snapshot of your holdings, your trades aren't even uploaded with dates. Bummer.

#4 Blockfolio

Blockfolio has the prominent advantage of being mobile. And it has the massive drawback of being mobile-only. I loved Blockfolio for quite a while, the app is sleek, they have live prices for virtually all mainstream tickers and exchanges and it worked just great to keep track of my handful of coins and weekly trades.

But then when the trades started to get more frequent than weekly it became such a mission to input all those trades using this tiny button on my phone that I had to quit it.

They said a desktop version is soon to be released, but so far it hasn't.

#3 CryptoCompare

Crypto Compare is probably the most notable cryptocurrency prices feeder of all. In terms of coins and prices it is basically unbeatable. The portfolio tracking app is web-based which is cool but not as mobile friendly as one would expect.

Also I disliked the fact that it won't allow you to upload an excel with trades for example or look at your historic performance in a format other than a table with unrealized profits and losses

#2 Cointracking.info

Cointracking.info is the perfect solution ! I knew at some point I would find something like that. They integrate with exchanges, they have API importers, all kinds of dashboards and charts and all you could want. Definitely the tool to get the job done. I mean they have IT ALL. More than I could figure from myself, like a dendrogram of currencies. They even help you get your taxes done.

Except that... well... for more than 200 trades it is not free AT ALL. It is quite expensive actually. A lifetime signature is half a BTC and a one year signature is 0.08 BTC (Currently approximately $200).

Well, not for me.

#1 Altpocket

Altpocket is,so far, the best looking alternative I've seen. One of the best tools out there. Totally free, lets you input your Poloniex and Bittrex API keys (which are the exact ones I use) and get trades automatically. Also lets you add trades manually. Lets you change your pricing API to CoinMarketCap, Poloniex or Bittrex.

Moreover, it has a social network feeling. Lets you share your portfolio and performance and be followed by people. But you can, obviously, make your portfolio private.

Still, it has a lot to add in terms of data visualization. Cointracking beats it hands tied. It seems that they have updates going on all the time, so I expect a lot more to come.

Note: Be sure to create new API keys with read-only rights before submitting it to Altpocket or any other tool !

CoinFinance

CoinFinance seems very promising. All the news about it are very good. They claim to be the Google Finance for cryptocurrency. Their interface is great for visualizing and very user-friendly. They're developing both iOS and Android apps.

Unfortunately it is currently under maintenance so I can't check whether they let you bulk import trades, but I'll soon do it and update this post with their rank.

Done !

Hope it helps, let me know whether you use other Crypto-Portfolio Trackers and what's their strengths and weaknesses.

Further discussion goes on this and this reddit threads.

@pedrombraz

I am looking for a solution that would include tax reporting so I can give the report to my CPA. A software that would give me a 1099 basically. just wanted to chip in here:

from Crypto port tracker:

(1) Trading history for Kraken and other exchanges is automatically imported via API or manual trade history upload. Withdrawals are not calculated at this time, but will be supported in a future update.
(2) Personal info is very secure, in fact we don't collect any user information other than email address and first/last name, and all data is stored with encryption on Google Cloud.
(3) While the app calculates realized gain/loss, it is not intended for tax purposes at this time.

any thoughts from anyone here?

This would be quite helpful.

Sounds great! I never heard of such a platform but I'll look into it and get back to you, ok? Cheers

Have you checked out bitcoin.tax?

Hello @liotap , finally had the time to make a new Portfolio Tracker Review since this one is a bit old nowadays. I’d appreciate your input on that !

I have been using CoinTracking for the past two years and all I can say are good things. One of the smartest customer support I've ever experienced. I've used about 4 other portfolio tracking, and none come close to what CoinTracking offers, usability and design is great.

The companion app is amazing as well. Now I can quickly see a snapshot of all my investments, regardless of where they are located, in one easy to use app.

Although the free version is good, import each CSV file from each exchange is time consuming, with the PRO version all your transactions are up to date with one time setup.

You can use my affiliate link which gives you 10% discount.

Hope this helps!

Hi Lio, CoinTracking has a section (Tax-Report) that allows you to create a tax report for your transactions. It is pretty straight forward. Find attached a screenshot of it.

Hope it helps

I have explored a couple of them and Cointracking seems to the best when compared to others. I created an account to on Altpocket and it doesn't seem to be as great as Cointracking. Any particular reason you ranked it above Cointracking?

Cointracking would be the best, (if it worked, and if they delivered on their promises - which they don't)

Exactly my experience. It doesn't do what it claims to do.

What are some of the shortcomings or promised features that arent being delivered?

It might've changed from when I wrote to now. I'm considering making a review soon !

Have to agree at the moment, CoinTracking is the most comprehensive portfolio monitoring solution (esp. for users who trade across multiple platforms).

Thanks for sharing.

so expensive though. outrageously so...!

Hello @gokulnk , finally had the time to make a new Portfolio Tracker Review since this one is a bit old nowadays. I’d appreciate your input on that !

Found you through Reddit; appreciate the post. I am going to use CoinTracking as when I started I was only on Kraken but over time I bled into multiple exchanges for various reasons. Thanks so much :)

Want to add Crypto Portfolio Tracker to the list:

  1. Connects to GDAX, Kraken, and Bittrex API for automatic sync
  2. Automatically calculates unrealized gain for all assets - no manual trade entry!
  3. Works on mobile browsers, no registration needed

https://cryptoportfoliotracker.com/

It's currently at about $46 yr. for the pro. BTC = 0.006 They offer free ten day trial.

I also like CoinTracking. In my opinion it's the best solution to track all my cryptocurrencies. I have API connections to all exchanges i am using so far thumbs up :-)

Hello @miyurufernando , finally had the time to make a new Portfolio Tracker Review since this one is a bit old nowadays. I’d appreciate your input on that !

Hey there, I'm the developer & founder at Altpocket, thanks for the kind review.
We are constantly developing and adjusting to how our users want the platform to be like, we can say we are a community ran portfolio.
We have some exciting things to share very soon regarding our platform that I think a lot of people will be happy about.

Thanks again!

Great post. We're a new player in the crypto portfolio space at http://www.efolio.info -- we do a few things differently than other players in the game. Namely, NO authentication required whatsoever. Everything runs on the client.

We are adding features all the time -- we have Ledger Wallet integration as well as Shapeshift integration. And you can query the blockchain to get all your balances. And, yes, we are working on the UI. Right now, it is all default bootstrap, but we are bringing a designer on board.

This one works the best for me. Thanks

I'll be sure to give it a look !

Started using it last month. Loving it. Clean and simple. I just wish there was a way to automatically sync portfolios from the exchanges, through API keys.

There seems to be a way to automatically sync the tokens, but not the positions of coins. I too wish for that.

I've been using eFolio for about two weeks now and I LOVE it. Blockfolio wouldn't allow me to put my OWN exchange houses in but forced their own . . . I guess. Anyway, eFolio is great and I can see everything there at once. I do want to ask a question: I see that eFolio recommends Trezzor and I think I've heard something negative about them or Ledger, etc., and I'd appreciate more knowledge on these questions. Thanks! Donal

It looks great but unable to import trade history from other exchange. And it keeps hanging...

Hi, I can't find the Ledger Wallet integration (I own the Ledger Nano S). Was it removed? Thank you.

Great collection! Could you comment on Trackr (https://www.trackr.im/). Thx.

I'm planning on reviewing this post and I'll include it for sure ! thanks

Great, thanks!

@rephill, finally made it ! Make sure to check the new post

Check out Bitsnapp, a new Android app that automatically sync your exchanges balances (using read only API keys) and track your wallet addresses (I am the developer). I would love to hear your feedback @pedrombraz! Here's the Play Store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bitsnapp.com.bitsnapp

charts.png

Noted ! thanks a lot and congratulations on your work, looks superb

Can it generate a report for taxes at the end of a year?

Not yet, sorry!

App looks great! Thanks!

Glad you like it! :)

Hey there @bitsnapp , you're more than welcome. I finally had the time to make a new Portfolio Tracker Review since this one is a bit old nowadays. You guys are featured on the post !

I found a solution for high-frequency traders! I'm using CoinTracking (10% discount using this link http://afino.link/cointracking) + http://Form8949.com – CoinTracking provides a TurboTax TXF file you can import into Form8949.com. I paid $190 for CoinTracking (Unlimited for 1 Year), and $28 for Form8949.com. Form8949.com sent the data to my TurboTax Online account. Because I had 4000+ cryptocurrency trades, it added "summary" information, and then it also provided me with 120 pages I had to print out, and mail to the IRS so that they have each individual trade on file. A side note though.. you're going to run into a slew of issues using CoinTracking if you are trying to set it up NOW, as opposed to setting it up for a new cryptocurrency portfolio, therefore.. I did my best to manually add trades, transfers, and transactions for the 2017 tax year, but then I wiped the entire CoinTracking history, and started fresh with API Keys linking Coinbase, GDAX, Bittrex, Cryptopia, and HitBTC so that all of my trades, transfers, and transactions are now being tracked automatically (set API Key DATE to the current date and time to only receive API Key data now, and avoid the API sending previous data, which is most likely messed up if you haven't been tracking this entire time). Join our Facebook group if you want to post a question or send me a message (good luck!): http://Facebook.com/Groups/AfinoCrypto

This was some very useful information, I have been looking for a good APP, I think I will wait for coin finance

@tellall, unfortunately Coin finance never made it out of the garage. On the bright side though, many nice platforms emerged, please check it out on the new Portfolio Tracker Review.

I have several exchange accounts and multiple crypto that I have either mined or purchased. Tracking the investments across accounts (and wallets) is to say the least very time consuming. Thanks for the to the point review of crypto porfolio options.

I setup Altpocket.io in like 20 mins with all of my accounts and now have a consolidated/updated view of all my crypto-cash!

Glad to hear @dcryptb ! good luck with your investments

Hey there @dcryptb , finally had the time to make a new Portfolio Tracker Review since this one is a bit old nowadays. I’d appreciate your input on that !

Is there a clear winner yet?
I'd be down to take a project like this on and make a product that fits the needs if there is still a gap in the market.
I'm gathering from this post that the big issues are:

Security
API access
Web and mobile
Tax export

And since I use Blockfolio, I'd add a requirement for scaling.
Low to no cost to operate

Very useful. Ultimately decided to go the spreadsheet route. Sharing here for those of you who want to monitor their portfolios themselves.

This is a wonderful list! Thank you!

Have you had the chance to check out https://cryptfolio.com/? We've been around for a few years now and always looking for ways to improve.

I haven't but I sure will ! thanks a lot.

Hey there @soundasleep , finally had the time to make a new Portfolio Tracker Review since this one is a bit old nowadays. I have commented on cryptfolio and I like it. congratulations on your work !

Another tool that I'd love to get your feedback on is CoinTracker (www.cointracker.network). It has a simple interface, supports automatic pulls from wallet addresses, and allows manual entry of 1,500+ coins & tokens.

Full disclosure: I built this tool because I didn't like other tools I found as much.

All right awesome, great work ! I'll be sure to give it a try soon. Hope all the best !

Sorry, the link should be https://www.cointracker.network (thanks Phil!). Now also integrates with top exchanges such as Coinbase, GDAX, Bittrex, Poloniex, Kraken, etc.

@chanfest22, simply loved it. Found a bug though ! please check it out on the new Portfolio Tracker Review. Congratulations on your work ! Your platform is one of the highlights of the post and I'm really looking forward to seeing more from you guys.

I'd like to add to the list one more online tracker: assetbalance.info
Advantages:30 days history chart, mobile friendly, assets are not limited to crypto, public and private portfolio with api.
Disadvantages: No API to exchanges.

Will sure do ! thanks a lot

Awesome article dude, I'm resteeming this

Glad you liked it ! Thanks a lot.

In case you've been looking into ICOs, I've been trying to develop an ICO Valuation methodology. I've been through how not to get scammed and how to properly evaluate an ICO team. Also, I put some alerts out for a possible ICO Bubble, as have the CFA Institute.

To facilitate the way people keep up with ICOs I came up with the Ultimate ICO List and an ICO resources list.

Hopefully you'll find some of that useful.

Looking forward to your reading new posts of yours and hearing your thoughts on mine ! Cheers

Nice review, and interesting links in your comment that I'm going to check out for sure!

@fiskerlux, please make sure you check the updated listing, some new platforms are making a very decent work

Coincap has been good to me so far on mobile.

Great article !

Currently I'm using "Vertfolio" ( https://vertfolio.com ) it’s new but simple and easy to use.

Thanks

I´m using #Tabtrader but will test your suggestions. Thank you by the article.

Cool ! let me know whether TabTrader overcomes the ones I mentioned.

Tabtrader is brilliant!

@j4c0b1, make sure you check the new post about portfolio trackers I've made. There are some very good new mobile platforms I think you should check. cheers !

Great post, you should expand by doing a comprehensive review of the most useful ones.

Great idea ! will do, thanks !

@jlanzago, haven't had the time to go deep on each platform but I finally made a new review of new platforms. If you'd care to take a look I'd appreciate your input.

Unfortunately CoinFinance is still under maintenance :(

UPDATE - I have done my research and CoinFinance is dead.

Just found the same ! sucks. They had made such a fuzz...

Just what I was looking for, extremely useful, thanks!

Hey there @shinymatt , finally had the time to make a new Portfolio Tracker Review since this one is a bit old nowadays. I’d appreciate your input on that !

Thanks for the reviews, this is great! Hopefully you didn't cover this and I just missed it, but is there a way to select specific date ranges with any of these? I am looking for a tracker that allows me to, for example, select a 3 month period and get a report on what each coin was doing over that period. I would love to be able to get ATH and ATL values for each coin as well. I checked out CoinMarketCaps api but it only has 1 day, and 7 day values.

only problem that i don't see any kraken API right?

Finally we do have a few Kraken compliant options ! please make sure to check them on the new Portfolio Tracker Review. cheers !

ok i will thanks!

Replying to save this for my records. Is there a way to "bookmark" posts in Steemit?

Not that I'm aware of, unfortunately. I personally use evernote to keep all my links.

@goatonastick, please make sure you check the updated listing, some new platforms are making a very decent work

You can add mycryptos.io to the list :) Check my post about it here https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@tarekb/simply-way-to-track-your-crypto-portfolio-value

Very good, and simple to use

Nice article. Altpocket seems the way to go so I will try it. I had signed up for cointracking.info but was unaware of their pricing structure. Thanks for mentioning. Cheers

@thecoinmovement, please make sure you check the updated listing, some new platforms are making a very decent work

Great post, thank you!!

List of all best Portfolio Trackers https://coindash.co/s/portfolio-trackers/

New crypto trading manager on the 'block' - Track A Coin.com

Key differences:

  • Set price targets per coin to keep track of all open orders.
  • Track trades with any paring (i.e. An ERC20 token you bought in ETH and sold in WAVES, you don't need to convert!).
  • Dynamic linking to pertinent websites for quick analysis and exchange entry.

Other features include Innovative watchlist dashboard, spreadsheet-like views allow as much or as little info as you want, no security concerns via anonymity and manual entry, super easy to use. A true one-page web app, no modals or other complications. Works on any device, best on desktop for detailed info, or mobile browsers for casual use.

Sounds awesome ! I'll check it out

@influx, finally done ! Make sure to check the new post

Nice seeing TrackACoin with the 'big dogs'. They keep adding new features so surly one to watch!

Appreciate you just saved me boatloads of time. The comments keep it relevant. Upvoted!

Good to hear, appreciate the feedback . Cheers !

Hey there @andallsteem , finally had the time to make a new Portfolio Tracker Review since this one is a bit old nowadays. I’d appreciate your input on that !

I build one myself, with an excel spreadsheet and auto import :)

That's a very good option for those of us who have the time ! Additionally I'd give you a hint that you can get live prices in google sheets, using you're very same sheet. Check this out !

Thx for the link man, also a very good idea and trick. Just thought using the price info for my own website or to import it somewhere else, not only in spreadsheed. At least I learned some useful bash scripting :)

Hey what about f0lio? ;)
https://f0l.io

[]

Good to know it has a mobile version ! i'll check it out soon !

There is only a mobile version, nothing else.

Hi Pedrombraz - Could you update this list, as this list is about 7 months old. Am sure, quite a few have got added.

You're right buddy. I gotta do it. Hopefully this week I'll get it done

Hi @pedrombraz! Sorry to self-promote a bit but eager to know what you think about https://getdelta.io, the app a friend & myself have been working on recently. :)

Image of Delta

Not to worry buddy ! I appreciate the tip, I'll be reviewing it soon !

Very sleek app. I am waiting to have enough free time to transition all my Blockfolio to Delta but that takes a lot of effort. If only you could come up with something that helps users transition easily. You know, when Evernote users were protesting that they limited free version to only two devices, OneNote had a migrate tool to pull all notes from Evernote to OneNote format. And BOOM, OneNote gained massive customer base in such a short time. What do you think? :)

Hey there @nicolasmask , finally had the time to make a new Portfolio Tracker Review since this one is a bit old nowadays. Delta is featured on the post, congratulations on your work !

Thanks for your tips! Altpocket looks good, but it only supports Poloniex and Bittrex. Take a look at https://www.mycryptofoliotracker.com. Got a mobile app too. :-)

Will do, thanks man

Unfortunately this is not free. After a few months they want you to pay a fee.

Great post!

Is there anyway to get in contact with you?

Absolutely, email me at [email protected]

Great review. We developed Cryptonaut http://www.cryptonaut.org an app that helps you to track all your cryptos. At the moment it is available for Android and iOS, we would be more than happy to hear your feedback.

Will do ! thanks a lot

Hey there @cryptonaut.org , finally had the time to make a new Portfolio Tracker Review since this one is a bit old nowadays. Cryptonaut is featured on the post, congratulations on your work !

Thank you for this! Really helpful!

Great Info mate Thanks.

This article helped a lot thanks!

Hey there @robotics , finally had the time to make a new Portfolio Tracker Review since this one is a bit old nowadays. I’d appreciate your input on that !

CoinTracking is so slow with updating the current prices. It's Tuesday night and their Veri price is still from Monday morning. Time to try Altpocket.

Regarding cointracking.info ;one thing that is worrisome is the pricing.
Where there are posts stating $200 to $360 for lifetimes access, the website itself has in in bitcoins.
People have bought in at above range, but as of now, it is ridiculously expensive.
At time of posting, https://cointracking.info/pro.php shows a sale price of 0.043 BTC for PRO lifetime use and 0.299 BTC for UNLIMITED, making them $718 and $4,993 respectively.
Would you pay for coffee priced at 0.01 BTC 1 year back? and the same price of 0.01 BTC today?

Very nice. Thanks.

Thanks for a great article, man! Just what I needed :)))
