Bitcoin (BTC) mining software, Bitfury Group has launched a new generation of BTC mining hardware based on Bitfury Clarke's Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) chip. Chip ASIC is part of mining hardware that is directed to mine digital currencies based on certain hashing algorithms. ASIC is designed for certain uses, not for general purpose use. Bitfury Clarke ASIC will be sold separately and integrated into Bitfury's BTC mining hardware, including its mining server and BlockBox. Bitfury plans to implement the new ASIC at its mining centers in Canada, Norway, Iceland and Georgia. In December, Bitfury facilitated the launch of the Toronto Hut 8-based BTC mining company by providing corporate access to mining hardware and other needs. In July, Hut 8 claimed that it had become the "largest publicly traded" operator in the world based on capacity. The company reportedly mined around 1,900 BTC since its original launch. In addition, the price of special graphics processing units (GPUs) has declined as prices sink in the digital currency market.
