RE: What Does Rocket Science and Cryptocurrency Have in Common? @socky

Satellites stay in space due to centrifugal force. They don't just float. Tie a rock to a string and spin it around. The rock doesn't fall to the ground. Centrifugal force pulls that rock away from the center. Those satellites are moving around ~17 thousand miles per hour. At that kind of speed centrifugal force matches the gravitational force and the satellite stays in orbit. No air in space means no friction to slow it down. This is how orbit works. If it didn't work that way, the moon would crash right into the earth. Go ahead and take a picture of an object the size of a computer that is miles away and traveling 17 thousand miles per hour.
