What is Garlicoin?

Internet is a wonderful place. It has radically changed the way we interact with people, what we expect from entertainment and has expanded our knowledge beyond what we could have hoped for. Talking to someone on the other side of the world in real time is a trivial event for us today. Sometimes the internet also provides us with projects that have no real reason to exist ... A recent example is a currency called Garlicoin. Let's take a look at it.

WHAT IS GARLICOIN?
Garlicoin (GRLC) is a cryptocurrency that is the result of a post on Reddit that has received over 30,000 upvotes.

If this ticket gets 30,000 upvotes, I'll make a crypto-coin to the garlic bread, named garlicoin. (reference to garlic bread) .

The post easily got the 30,000 upvotes and the author started working on this new incongruous cryptocurrency. Garlicoin is a project that has forked the Litecoin and continues the efforts of several members of the crypto sphere to make an ASIC resistant corner. It's a corner with a community that does not take itself too seriously as you can imagine. One of his FAQ posts says:

This is the room you never thought you needed, and you probably do not need it.

Joking aside, Garlicoin's team is convinced that their creation should not be exploitable with specific mining equipment, which is significant for our planet. Although ASICs are very useful, it's nice to see a corner trying to keep things as decentralized as possible by involving individuals with modest machines. As for whether the AMD or NVIDIA shares will gain value thanks to Garlicoin, I do not suspect it, but who knows?

The team recently performed an airdrop to include members of its community who could not mine (no GPU for example). The Reddit community is quite active, with over 137,000 subscribers, which is much more than the Dogecoin (107,000 subscribers). Many new members arrive, the curious and the miners discussing everything and nothing.

All in all, this is a fairly complete and young alternative. Obviously, the very existence of this corner 'is a good joke (and it is also one of the reasons why the Dogecoin pleases so much), which is something rare in crypto-currencies. Who knows, maybe tonight you could undermine a little Garlicoin with your little GPU, and get a margin in a while.
