Bitcoin Transaction Time Frame

in #bitcoin8 years ago

Recently I did a trade of some Steem Backed Dollars via @Changelly, much like many transactions in the past with them. The only difference was, this time I used @Bitpay instead of @Coinbase as my receiving wallet. I did this because I just received the Bitpay debit card and was interested in using it to make my land payment that is due in a few days.

I am writing this to ask, how long are the Bitcoin transaction times for most people? The initial transaction was done two days ago, shows completed on Changelly but no Bitcoin in my Bitpay wallet. When using Coinbase it took a day, sometimes a hair longer, to receive my BTC. After a few hours, it would show in the Coinbase app as a 'pending transaction'. I don't see this with Bitpay - just a notice saying 'no transactions yet' when I click the wallet in their app.

Am I just being too anxious or did I lose 21 SBD?

Jusr concerned and would appreciate any help with this

I don't think the delay in transaction is peculiar to you @triverse, I have read similar thing from people with same experience.

Did this transaction ever go through for you? How long did it end up taking in the end?

It finally went through but took over 20 days. Now I am unable to load the Bitcoin onto my Bitpay card without paying more than $200+ to "someone" (either Bitpay or Bitcoin miner fees). I am done with Bitpay at this point. I am sure they will have no trouble whatsoever charging me the $5, or so, account maintenance fee though.

Most likely you were simply one of the unlucky this time around. Many anti-"bcashers" on social media have recently tried to disprove that Bitcoin (Core/Segwit) transactions are slow and expensive. Quite a few of those took over a week and cost hefty fees.

Probably my luck. Lol. I don't pay much attention to people bitching about Bitcoin, fees, etc. I just use it to pay some bills and hold as an investment. I was mainly concerned with this being my first transaction with Bitpay and not seeing anything in their app even showing an incoming transaction worried me.

I hope it doesn't take a week or longer. lol I will keep this in mind for the future though. Thanks for the heads up.

Hope it works out for you. Next time I would stick with Ethereum or Bitcoin Cash, although I'm not sure if changelly supports them as I use other routes.

I only went with Bitcoin because neither Bitpay or Coinbase offer using any other crypto with their debit cards. Sucks. I wish someone would come out with a debit card supported by something other than Bitcoin. Doubt it will happen anytime soon though.

There is also TenX and Monaco, but Bitcoin.com is planning to launch a card for Bitcoin Cash actually. Not sure when it will be out.

Thanks for the heads up on the other options. If this continues I will probably just eat the fees to use another crypto to PayPal and be done when I need it since I only cash out in a time of need anyhow.

Just hate handing over about 15 to 20 percent in fees (hurts the more crypto you are trading).

very boring :(
