The promoters were well aware of the nature of bitconnect (ie that it was a complex ponzi). Many were extremely visible as well, promoting bitconnect on YouTube etc. At the very least they are going to spend the next few years looking over their shoulders, partly for the law and partly for disgruntled investors they convinced to sign up!
