REDEMPTION OPTIONS
Our focus in these early days is on the rewards aspect, and it's a BLAST giving all these tokens away to the awesome artists and music lovers, but it's important to have some compelling ways to redeem the token as we progress. This is mainly what this post is about. We have some ideas swirling around on this, but ultimately this is a community project.
So we'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback in the comments, from both an artist and fan perspective, on some compelling ideas of how/where to redeem $INDIE. Take it away...

A few thoughts. As a digital currency, i think we should first start looking at digital products. Its very tempting to think of using a currency on tangible real goods, but as an old midwest saying "thats putting the wagon in front of the horse" meaning lets not get a head of ourselves.
As far as digital goods, well, musicians and music lovers both love music so using $indie to purchase music direct from a musician is a grand idea. But what else could be do with it? Could a musician give an online radio station $indie to slot them into their rotation? Should that be a route the currency takes? Could someone release some audio software for free, and you can tip $indie or maybe download some efx patches to use on the free software with $indie?
what about music listeners? The problem with "music listeners" to me is they are MUCH more diverse than musicians. Musicians share a lot of characteristics, but listeners could be literally anyone. So what would they want? Well, exchangable valure on exchanges for one, sure. That would work. What else though? Tipping musicians on a broad scale maybe?
There are just rambling and thoughts.
This is good @amphlux , getting the ball rolling. With more redeem options a value gets established. And the answer to most of your middle questions is yes, as long as the venue will accept them!
This is great watching this come together. I'm seeing $indie posts all over the place, HA!!! Um have you thought about doing something to redeem for merchandice or partner with the other music bots around Steemit?
Good thoughts. @atomcollector is cooking up some ideas for merch. And somehow adding $INDIE to the rewards with all the Steemit music bots, hmmm that sounds interesting.
Some ideas I have and looks like amphlux touched on one of them being the "redeemable" nature of converting in to real money via exchanges would be a way to reward people for using INDIE - i.e. listen to 1,000 songs and it's worth x amount of dollars.
But that doesn't incentivise people to STAY on the platform imho. If you want people to stay engaged (listeners) - then it could be that you have some "unlock" features if they get to a certain number of plays? Or share 10 songs and get an extra 100INDIE? I don't know but some incentives.
Another idea could be to get the INDIE token working with steem dollars and steem power? Reach a certain number of INDIE tokens and unlock 5 SBD?
If the INDIE tokens can be built up over time, maybe having a store (not specifically artist related but listener related) - like being able to buy headphones, vouchers for download x number of tracks in store, festival tickets, event tickets?
The scope is huge but these are just my ideas/brain farts on the topic.
Love what you are all doing with the platform, I just wish I had a work-life balance to be more actively involved with it all. I'm working on it :)

Another idea popped in to my head - you can target producers as well by collaborating with music studios. Earn x amount of INDIE and get one track mastered or something like that?
