Microsoft built a system called "Digital Encroachment and Microsoft's Incubator" to increase security, reduce cyber crime rates, and ensure individual digital identity with strong privacy.
The Microsoft team analyzed decentralized storage systems, consensus protocols, and concluded that the technology behind Bitcoin and other crypto currencies, Blockchain, is the most appropriate to allow Decentralized IDs (DID). The main purpose of creating DID is to create a Digital Hub (ID Hubs). The technology enables digital applications to store user data, only within the limits of privacy that are under the control of the identity owner. That is, the developapplication can not use the user's identity for things that are beyond the user's control.
Hubs ID allows apps and services to serve ads, only to people who allow the display of ads to show on their devices. This technology also further ensures the security of the stored Identity. Thus, users will also feel more comfortable and freely in providing identity, without being overshadowed by the fear of abuse for illegal things.
