While Steem is a great plattform for content creators it is not perfect. It is a big problem that there is no proper competition for a blockchain powered social network. This is where a new project is trying to make a name for itself.
What is Typerium?
Typerium at this moment is just an ethereum token. But the team has big ambitions. They want to become the go to decentralized token based social media plattform that rewards creators with a special token. Just like the Steem blockchain they want to eliminate the problem of large corporations like Facebook or Google having way too much power over the content we see. Another problem with the current systems is that they are centralized which means all of the content could be gone if one of those large players goes out of business. This means that they will be the first majoy competitor to the Steem blockchain. The Token pre sale will start on 30th May on their website https://typerium.io/.
How does it differ from Steem?
Typerium is not simply a copy of Steem but they offer a lot of different features Steem doesn't offer. One of their biggest goals is to protect intellectual property utilizing smart contracts. This will encurage creators to produce high quality content because they can be sure it won't be stolen. Another feature they want to offer are built in software to create content which should incentivize creators to use the plattform. This is supposed to create an all in one experience for the user. The platform will also provide an integrated instant messaging service.

Agreed, there are a lot of really bad icos but this isn't one of them.

Interesting to learn about typerium.. I'd not yet.
There are already quite a few "steemit" like blockchain based social media websites out there though. Most recently ONO which plans to launch on EOS blockchain.
So far none of them have come close to competing with steemit. Sure it's not perfect... It never will be. Anything decentralized won't ever be perfect...however, it seems like it's somewhat better than a lot of the current systems in place IMO.
Thanks for commenting. I haven't heared of ONO before, sounds interesting. I think overall steemit is an incredible platform, especially compared to the current social media giants but I am also glad that there seems to be more competion in this space around the corner ;-)
