Double up on privacy with DeepOnion and VPN

in #blockchain7 years ago

Your privacy is at risk

First of all you should be aware that all the privacy/anonymous coins out there will not protect your ass at all. That is coins like monero, zcash, etc. Sure they can obfuscate the sender and receiver making it hard to trace who send who coins. The problem is of course that your IP is revealed the whole time. It only takes 1 call from the government to get your ip, and another call to get your address. Within minutes the cops will be knocking on your door!

One of the solutions to this problem is coins that works over the TOR network, one of those is DeepOnion, which by the way is giving coins away for free right now. Follow this link to sign up for free ONION coins

It doesn't stop here though

The problem with TOR is that the government can easily inject their own nodes into the entire TOR network, and they can inject A LOT (read thousands) of TOR relay/entry/exit nodes. As a user you will never know if the TOR node you are routing through is a government owned node or not. This is illustrated in the below sketch

The solution here is called VPN.

When you establish a VPN tunnel and connect to the TOR network, you will give the government one hell of a hard time tracking you down. If you have picked a secure VPN provider, you are safe.

What happens when you establish a VPN connection and connect to TOR with your DeepOnion wallet, is that the entry into the TOR network will be from the location of the VPN gateway.
