I saw this post and the title and I decided to check it out. The idea is always that that are no users on Hive, or that Hive cannot retain Users, I don't think all these are true. Good market condition is the best retentive measures second to great apps as well.
95% of the entire market is currently in chaos. Vitalik is selling ethereum, top chains like Berachain and Monad are currently bleeding even after raising hundreds of millions.
People chase after money and there's nothing wrong with it, people just want to stay where there's constantly money and more money to be made, while this is a bit similar with Hive, there's still a major difference in the fact that a huge part of the population is emotionally attached to Hive and wants it to do better.
This is the difference between Hive and other chains or places. There are over 125 comments on this post and 90% of these comments does not agree with the proposal idea on this post.
This is because people wants better improvement for the chain; more intentional marketing, better direction of the DHF and not more CLAUDE or AI integration or anything like that. However I don't know why the owner of the proposal hasn't seen through all these. I think 98% of people can agree that we really don't need all that.
I don't think Hive issues are rocket science, even people with less technical skills can see it. We're just two or three forks away from hitting it, and I don't really know why we can't.
Marketing is not really much of a technical thing, perhaps it's different to have wizardry and blockchain skills and marketing skills. I don't really have to say much, I just think everyone actually knows we can be better, and the best source of marketing is better price and the only way to do this is to take care of what we can and let the market handle the rest.
At the moment, we can fix a lot on our end and let the market do the rest. However the reason why this post has 125 comments shows that Hive doesn't lack users, or lack the tech. We have all the tech possible and everything, we just have one thing to do, fix the economy of the token and reinstate trust into the layer of the user base.
In reality, in a democratized setting, we should be listening to the regular complaints or concerns of the regular users, enacting some of these changes in a DPOS setting. These things looks or sound complex but they're actually very easy to sort out and again, we're seeing the disadvantage of DPOS. This isn't inherently a problem of Hive. It's just the way it is.
Hive does not need more technical ship, it needs more strategic attention and this has to do with tokenomics and how the DHF works. I hope the 20 witnesses can actually take this into consideration and start shipping the forks we need.
In this kind of a market, I don't see how marketing would be effective either. On the other hand, any chain/ecosystem without development is a dead chain. Whether it has users or not is almost irrelevant if the tech becomes obsolete or starts breaking and there's no one to fix it. Or if competition makes things much more interesting, quicker.
We need more Rally cars
The rally car at the beginning was a terrible market concept
It's still a terrible marketing concept..
Not again. 😂
I can't see the point either, we need more developments for what? Hive has already everything, I could argue we need better games, more like AAA titles but besides that? We got no marketing, that's the real need
Yes, we actually don't more tech except the ones that'll connect us with other leading chains actually. Right now the DHF just has to stop bleeding
I agree completely, there needs to be a lot more attention on the tokenomics and the wasteful DHF that inflates Hive. We do need some effective marketing, sadly that would entail actually hiring someone or a firm to do it properly. That doesn't come cheap, but is necessary if we want to grow long term. I've seen so many people come and go from Hive it's kind of sickening...
Yeah, the thing I don't understand how is seemingly getting our DHF to work is always a big issue, it's probably the most easiest thing and still we don't deem it necessary to do so.
I agree with your outlook. I don't think they realize how the DHF is one of the largest issues. There isn't enough accountability, and there are things we need to solve here.
Somehow it still remains the most difficult thing...I think this is that one of the disadvantages of the DPOS we have: witnesses not doing anything that benefit the chain
yeah, a make or break moment for many projects atm. Hope we make it!
A lot of project raised millions and they're not even half of what Hive is, this is a prove that we don't need more tech, we just need to fix the token economy, restore faith and then get in more intentional marketing.
indeed! we have a strong base to build upon. I am with many other projects and virtually all of them struggle from the same reasons with the main one being marketing. What is lacking for Hive is a strong presence on X. It was better a year ago, but lately I see only few posts.
The Hive X account truly hasn't tweeted in a while, and I think it needs more incentivized marketing and a banging post that can actually trend. It's easy to make such marketing post.
Then the DHF which is the elephant in the room.
Hive has a strong foundation, we need to be taking advantage
I also read the post yesterday including some comments and what came to my mind was "there's still hope for Hive to survive."
I think if the 20 witnesses can figure it out, then it'll work out. I just think they've not been doing what we need most, and I wonder why actually
Let me believe that everyone on Hive wants the best for Hive, and also that the witnesses know what they're doing for the good of Hive.
A lot of money have already been distributed among a lot of projects and the result is zero. Not sure why the top witnesses and the other whales not noting that or maybe they don't want to see that trying to ignore the things like nothing happening. Not sure what but this is not good for the hive ecosystem not sure what is going to be the future but if the peoples are worried more about the ecosystem than there is no future. This is kind of worrying not sure when this is going to stop but still there is lot of things to be done in the inside system after that we are ready for other things in my opinion.
