When I came to SteemIt to earn Steem, I didn't really understand the blockchain technology and why it was important. Although, I don't need to know in order to enjoy SteemIt, I like to know.
Sadly, we have not made it a focus to educate and refine our language into something more digestible to the average person. Dash for a while was focusing on educating "the masses" The result was this video series where Amanda B Johnson, tries to get people to understand at least at a high level what the blockchain does and how it functions.
I highly recommend the first 4 videos, of the Dash School with Amanda. It uses laymen terms to give a basic concept level understanding of crypto and blockchains. I love it. What a great communicator. Each video is fairly short concise and gives a concept explanation of many aspects of crypto.

I was struggling to understand the concepts myself. The past week or so I have been focusing my attention on cryptocurrencies. I ended up writing a few articles on some up and comers. Cryptos are a lot of fun to mess around with if you have a little bit of money to start with, patience and a willingness to learn.
