I just tried to comment on a post by @blocktrade and got this message in red: "kirbyhopper bandwidth limit exceeded. Please wait to transact or power up STEEM." What's that all about? How is that even possible?

https://steemd.com/@kirbyhopper will show your bandwidth.
Looks like you're using up all your bandwidth. It's proportional to how much SP you have I think. Why don't you just convert your SBD to STEEM in the internal market then power up? You don't need an account to use block trades.
Must have been the pictures I posted with my comments.
I dunno. I just tried again and it went through. All I was trying to do was post a comment on steemit. I wasn't even trying to transact or power up, but the message in red said to wait to do that. Weird.
By "transact" it means any action on steemit I think. Comments use bandwidth. Waiting let's your bandwidth recharge. Powering up is the alternative to waiting. I agree, it's not very clear.
Your bandwidth is at 5% right now. Try going to your wallet and accepting rewards. Then click on the number for SBD and click market in the drop-down. Buy STEEM.
Congratulations @kirbyhopper! You have completed some achievement on Steemit and have been rewarded with new badge(s) :
