Well it's been almost a week since I joined up with BOID to use my spare computing power for distrubted computing solutions and I thought I would give a quick update on how it's going.
You can refer to my BOID Watching - My First 48 hours post for specifics on what BOID is and why its a good thing to join (help cure cancer for a start).
So its been 6 days since I first joined and started to mine BOID.
My BOID POWER is now up to over 5K. This is a measure of how fast you are mining the BOID token itself. I have a couple of low end machines running the app so this is a cumulative score

The main thing is of course the BOID tokens themselves. The more power you have, the more tokens you mine, same as in any other crypto mining. It takes awhile for your power to ramp up and reach peak performance (about 1 day before I was the 5K level) and my token total hasn't updated for a few hours, so I am calling it about 5 days worth of mining

Over 36K tokens in 5 days, about 7K tokens a day, not too shabby. Now of course this is still in alpha, the tokens aren't worth much at all but that's about $9 USD for the 5 days I've done this.
At this point, its not the value of the tokens that counts, its the accumulation.
Maybe, just maybe, this takes off and these tokens become worth something, who knows.
I'm in early on this coin and might make something off it or maybe not.
Unlike most coins I have jumped in on early, even if it doesn't pay off financially there is still the reward of having helped solve some complex algorithms that might one day lead or help lead to a breakthrough that might provide a cure or at least an insight into Cancer, Alzheimers or something else that benefits mankind.
So while this might not pay off financially, at least I'm accumulating good karma just for leaving my PC running on a night.
And hey, right now the BOID mining is paying just as much as posting on steemit, so it's not all bad.
