Odd questions that were banned from Google interviews

in #blog7 years ago

Google used to employ recruitment strategies that were not for everyone, as people who were not graduate from the top US universities were rarely going through offices.

The worse that made Google's HR was to ask the candidates mad questions to see how they would answer. But afterwards - and after fierce reactions - these strange and rather unrelated questions stopped.

Lewis Lin, a Seattle-based business manager, produced a list of 140 such suspicious questions that his clients reported, out of which we stand out:

"How many golf balls fit in a school bus?" For the position of responsible product.

"How much would you dare to clean all the windows of Seattle" for the same position.

"In a country where people only want boys, each family continues to have children until they give birth to a boy. If they do, they will make another child. If they do boy, they will stop. What is the proportion of boys and girls in the country? ", For the same position.

"He designed an evacuation plan for San Francisco" for the same position.

"Why are the lids of the shafts cylindrical?", For the position of computer science.

"How many pianos are there all over the world?" For the position of responsible product.

"How many times the clock overlaps the clock?", For the same position.

"A man pushes his car up to the hotel and loses his fortune. What happened? ", For the IT position ...

Gayle Laakmann McDowell, a former Google employee and writer of The Reluctant Mind, said the company has officially banned these practices, and even if the recruiter asks for this, the candidate's answer will not taken into account.
