There are several things that attract people to your blogs and websites. Consider the following:

Operations:
What is happening on your site?
- What is your niche theme based on?
- What cause are you promoting?
- What activities happen there on your site?
- Is it anything the public will be really interested in?
- Is there anything there for free?
Social behaviour:
Relationships on built on common interests.
- People are drawn to you by similar interests.
- It is easy to relate to people with similar personalities and lifestyles.
- Desire to fit in and be ‘one-of-the-boys’.
- Trust goes with having similar experiences.
Desires of the heart:
Things go deeper that! Know what people crave most:
- Desire to be smart.
- To have independent lifestyles.
- To be rich and famous.
What motivates people?
- Drama and passion stirs people’s interest and emotions.
- The blogger’s enthusiasm for life and what they do.
- Upbeat personalities are more attractive. How we write and what jargon we use is important.
- To established authenticity: Sharing your actual experiences. Supplying usable knowledge that people feel and believe will work if they try it out.
- Easy attainability: Demos with clear easy steps to follow.
- Your success story gives other people hope. If you can do it, they feel they can too.
Meeting expectations:
Don’t promise something you know you can’t provide.
- Don’t let people down. Whatever your headline, try to follow up on what you are suggesting in your headline title.
- Give them value. Spice your blogs up. Fill your blogs up with more than what your visitors expect.
- Work out a basic idea and formula for each blog first. And then build on that.
- Remember people’s attention span isn’t long. So `tidy-up –your-act’ and knock out unnecessary dribble.
- I must admit, a quirky statement or joke here and there is fine, it makes reading more fun.
Conclusion:
A balance of info and entertainment is a sure recipe for trending success.

@artguru There are some great insights and pieces of advice there. I have to a large degree started to become of the opinion that (for me anyway) my social media platforms are far more important these days than a website. Don't get me wrong, I still have a website for my primary business as well as for my blogging and other adventures, but the majority of my clients come to me via my social media platforms...
Great post - Many people could do with reading this, as some websites out there are just an absolute mess!
I agree about using Social Media. But our websites must be worthwhile visiting.
I personally found I got very little attention from FaceBook connections!
In my case been an art website (www.adafagan.co.za) I got more attention from art clubs and groups.
