I was with wife in the sitting room. My little one is in the play room playing with Aqua beads. They are little tiny beads that you put together to make a picture. When you finished your little mosaic you spray it with water. The beads stick together and Voila, The beads all stick together and your creation is made.
The little beads are tiny so it takes a pen to put them in place but even as a 39 year old, they are fucking frustrating as they keep moving out of their position and its hard to get them to stay where they are meant to be. So imagine a 5 year old that is the most emotional person I have ever met having this as her hobby. The screams normally start happening around 5 minutes into the play tine. We used to go in and help her but she's stubborn and she wants to do it all on her own. Now we just leave her do it but she would be shocking out every 5 minutes.
The crying started when she kicked the table out of frustration and then her creations beads went all over the place. This caused her to have an even bigger meltdown.
"Will I go in?" I asked my wife.
"No way" she said "If you go in then the next level meltdown will occur and there will be no coming back from it.
So we sat there for an hour watching TV while screaming and crying, moaning and complete rage at one stage were happening in the room next door. The wrath of a 5 year old girl is quite scary. At one stage we thought she was going to just wreck the place but she kept going. It is difficult to keep a steady hand while in a rage and crying putting these little bloody beads in their place. "Will you come in and spray my beads" is a regular request as her little fingers aren't strong enough to squeeze the button to stick her end product. It's the request that confirms that the job is done. All the anger has subsided now and she is proud of her achievement.
"What was she making in there "I asked my wife. Another bloody unicorn?"
Go in and have a look. All that anger for the last hour and she was making daddy a present. It really touched my heart. I just had to post it.
But does anyone else have kids with Aquabeads. They are the most frustrating toy. We wish we could have turned back time and steered her away from them because they turn them into demons. Now granted she has the dexterity of a Chinese table tennis champion but jesus christ give her a bloody teddy bear or a jigsaw any day of the week. Bloody Aquabeads. Although a very nice present for daddy on a cold sleepy Sunday in Southern Ireland.
Buy more Aquabeads for Christmas, joking 🤣 Thanks for the post, now I know what to don't buy for my youngest one.
Ok with boys in the house there are no beads in da house, i repeat no beads! We do have pokemon cards and fifa games and card, but seeing this ( i did know the iron beads ) i am buying this for me for christmas.
