The CCIE was revised in February 2020. For those who are preparing for the CCIE now, you must be faced with the content of this revision. Let's take a look at what's new in this update.
Let's start with the CCNA certification. The 9 major directions of CCNA are merged, and only one exam is taken, the exam code is 200-301, which is the biggest change of CCNA exam. The content of the test is more comprehensive, requiring every network engineer to master a more comprehensive knowledge. In this way, the exam may be harder.
There are several changes in CCNP test. First, the original CCNP routing and switching direction and wireless direction are merged into CCNP Enterprise direction, including all the content of routing and switching and all the content of wireless needed in the Enterprise. The second is the reform of the examination form of CCNP. The new CCNP certification only needs to pass two exams, that is, the corresponding exam of core knowledge points plus an elective course. The third point is that the new generation of CCNPs does not need to have CCNA certification to take the exam directly.
Then comes the change of CCIE, which is the point of this article: what’s the content of the new version of CCIE updated in February 2020?
One is that some of the CCIE certifications will be updated: CCIE Collaboration V2.0 was updated to CCIE Collaboration V3.0; CCIE Data Center V2.1 was updated to CCIE Data Center V3.0; CCIE Security V5.0 was updated to CCIE Security V6.0; CCIESP V4.1 was updated to CCIESP V5.0. With the exception of the changes, CCIE's Routing and Switching V5.0 and CCIE Wireless V3.1 are officially cancelled.
This is the most important part of the update: CCIE's routing and switching direction is officially cancelled. There must be something to replace it, right? That is the CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure (Enterprise Architecture Direction). In addition, the CCIE Wireless V3.1 certification has been updated to the CCIE Enterprise Wireless V1.0 certification, Enterprise Infrastructure(original R&S) and Enterprise Wireless(original Wireless) take the same written CCIE exam.
There are also several issues with the migration of the old CCIE R&S to the new CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure (Enterprise Architecture Direction). Here's a brief answer: after you currently get your R&S certificate, you can get an EI certificate issued by Cisco on February 25, 2020 for USD 100 without taking the exam.
After the update of CCIE in February 2020, it gives network engineers a bigger challenge. However, the content of EI direction is the upgrade of RS direction, so network engineers do not need to be nervous. SPOTO has already started the reform of Cisco course system, and it is not difficult to help candidates pass the CCIE EI on the basis of well learning of RS.
