Real Exorcisms & Story Behind the movie 'The Exorcist' - [True Story]

Active Exorcism in Virginia by a Jesuit priest from St. Louis, the same Priests who also did the Exorcism behind the movie 'The Exorcist'.

I sat down with a Priest in my Diocese in Virginia last week to ask him some question regarding Exorcisms.  I am giving a talk on Spiritual Warfare and Exorcisms in two weeks and wanted to make sure my material was on topic.

He told me, much to my surprise that there is an active exorcism happening in Northern Virginia right now, this person has been evaluated by several top Psychiatrists and nothing was found that would be attributed to mental illness.  Apparently they had to send out for a very experienced exorcist to work on this case, he is a Jesuit Priest from St. Louis.

St. Louis Jesuits

You may not understand the connection here, the St. Louis Jesuits are the very same order of Priests that were involved in the infamous exorcism that was turned into the hollywood blockbuster 'The Exorcist'.  The true story was of a boy named Roland Doe who lives in Prince George's County Maryland.  He is said to be in his late 80's now and still alive.  No one outside of the Catholic Church know his real name.  The wild things that are shown in the movie like the spinning of heads, spewing green vomit and the infamous spider walk down the stairs, did not happen.  Sorry to disappoint you, hollywood has a way of portraying these things in a crazy fashion.

The Exorcism took several months and over 9 Jesuit Priests were involved in the Exorcism.  I thought that it was interesting to know that in my Diocese here in Northern Virginia, we have a real legit case that is ongoing.  People may be surprised to learn that in most diocese, there are now 1-3 Exorcists, the number of oppressions & Possessions is sky rocketing with people delving into the occult and that number is only going to go higher.

For a good source on the exorcism, please see the following: The Exorcism of Roland Doe

I would be interested to hear about the process and what it entails. What it really looks like. And if it sticks, that's my biggest question. Do they stay out of you for good? or is there a reversion, or susceptibility to those things now?

@sorcpenz that is a great question! I'll write a new blog on this. =) Great points..
