Back to blogging

Did anyone else have a problem logging in using the Keychain extension? It looks like I had a timeout issue. It's hard to tell what went wrong when there are so many moving parts.

Anyway, I switched to PeakLock, and I want to start writing blog posts again.

Of course I kept writing all the time. Besides posting snaps here, I had to spend some time posting anonymously for a more specialized audience, for personal development. You won't be surprised to hear I was censored on Twitter, while Reddit banned all three of my accounts after I called myself a

██████faggot.

Posting plans

I promise I will finish the tariff series someday, but this year, I'd like to focus more on topics no one else would come up with, like how renewable energy will enable us to build cities on top of mountains, or why the Netherlands never was viable as an independent country, even when it was an empire.

Hivefest bike

Whatever the market does, I'm still representing Hive and Monero. This is my bicycle in January, after I thoroughly cleaned it and repaired the improvised mudguards using sturdy duck tape. I also had to replace the rear tire after getting a flat and rolling it home.

I'd found the tire I needed on the internet, but I thought: let's support the local bike repair shop. However, when I asked them to order it, the owner flatly refused. He told me such smooth tires without any profile were dangerous and he wouldn't sell them. Never mind that I'd been using them on this bike for about 15 years, on a bike from the Gazelle brand he was a dealer for, and that I'd safely been riding on snow this winter. Bicycle tires are different from car tires: they're so thin that maximizing the contact surface is more important for grip.

So, if you hear about retail stores which are struggling, sometimes they're just owned by a narrow-minded asshole. This was the first time I had to deal with the owner rather than the friendly mechanic, who seems to work longer hours. Philosophical question: I've seen conflicts between practical and theoretical knowledge before - on which side am I here?

And this is how I look these days. Notice anything different?

Well, the big difference is that I have a mirror now. I used to have one, but it was always out of the way, facing the wall.
