The Artist Anna Sophie Gasteiger

Good day dear Community, first of all I would like to wish you all a pleasant day and hope you had a pleasant start to the weekend! Today I would like to talk about art history and hope you show interest and can learn something new.

Here you can see pictures of some paintings of the German painter Anna Sophie Gasteiger (1877 - 1954) who was a interesting painter and especially she has concentrated on painting flowers or landscapes and created numerous works which conjure up a smile on the viewer's face. The paintings have their own charm and were processed with great attention to detail and you can also see that she managed to create a great mood with the right choice of colors and the exposure also comes very well to the present and she used almost exclusively oil colors. Anna Sophie Gasteiger already recognized in her young years that she was interested in art and she was especially attracted by Dutch painters of the 17th century, which is also known as the golden age and in this era, culture flourished extremely in the Netherlands and spread throughout Europe and at that time part of the Netherlands was still connected to Spain. She decided to study art at that time and went to Munich and decided to attend the Royal Academy of Art and she learned there from the German painter and sculptor Julius Exter (1863 - 1963) and at the academy she met her husband Mathias Gasteiger (1871 - 1934) who was also an artist and devoted himself particularly strongly to sculpture and Julius Exter is also known for having had a friendship with Julius Exter. Together, the two quickly came into art circles and regularly exhibited their works and it often drew her to nature to be inspired for their works of art and together with her husband they decided to buy a house near Munich and this natural and idyllic place was probably the right source of inspiration for their works. Over time, her works became more and more popular and her name spread more and especially often she presented her works in Dresden and Munich and some time later the two decided to settle again in Munich and in the place where they lived they organised many artistic meetings and festivals and quickly this became an increasingly popular meeting place for artists.
