#iwantSTEEM | Prolific aspect of Steem

in #blog6 years ago

It's fascinating how steem works and I'm saying it based on my understanding of its surface alone. The backend is a different world that is beyond my understanding so I'll set it aside for now.

For now, I just want to talk about curation in general and let out my thoughts about it.

Firstly, I do think that it's probably the most interesting aspect of Steem. It's something entirely different from the centralized social media platforms out there and here's why I think so:

Upvotes have monetary value

All the while, I thought that the centralized social network is doing me a favor by proving a platform for everyone to express themselves and share their knowledge or talents. It's all good until I learn about Steemit that also provide a platform and with the added probable monetary
incentive. I never thought that it would be possible since I was made to believe that it's a privilege for me to post in platforms like Facebook or Instagram.

Basically, every user's post or comments is worth something for as long as other users find it valuable for them.

Good recognition of one's content

Essentially, we have 10 full upvotes in a day to be able to recoup the full voting power of an account each day. To put it simply, if I were to distribute it to 10 accounts, it's better be for something that I really like or a post that I think is valuable to me that I want to recognize his effort for producing it.

Robust distribution of stake

When an account upvote a content, 75% of the reward goes to the author while 25% of it goes back to the curators. In essence, the growth of content creators should be much faster than the curators and if done right the distribution will favor the low stake accounts since they are likely to be more active in terms of content creation.

One of the major players in this distribution is the work done by Dapps (Steemhunt, Actifit, Tasteem, Dlike, Dtube and so on) since their focus is more into the use of their application and recognition of the users for their participation. Apparently, this is where the low-stake accounts thrive and grow. In addition, Dapps are also capable to reach out far & wide across the platform with their reward mechanisms.

I honestly think that a lot of people outside the steem blockchain is missing out this opportunity to be wealthy in terms of knowledge, social experience and a bit of the monetary reward. A lot of them (including myself at first) thought that these incentives are "too good to be true" and it took me some time to realize it. And I finally did, I made a permanent switch from FB/IG to Steemit.

I hope others will realize it too. Cheers guys!

Lol, that's too far ahead. I'm gonna settle in this for the meantime and focus on making the value of "steem" moon! I think that would be better for everyone 🤞🥂

Haha agree, my aim is to break through 5k Steem by this year. Getting Steem to moon is like taking ages to happen 😂 your growth and change had been outstanding though!
