According to 63 studies, atheists are smarter than religious.

A study based on an analysis of 63 studies showed that there is a negative association between intelligence and religion, concluding that atheists are smarter than religious people.

The study was done by Miron Zuckerman, Jordan Silberman and Judith A. Hall of the University of Rochester and the Northeastern University conducted the analysis of the studies. The negative association becomes stronger in people who have faith in many religious beliefs.

On the other hand, at universities, smarter teenagers are more likely to avoid religion, because according to the study "If atheism is disapproved at home, people with greater intelligence can withstand the pressure of conformity."

In addition, smarter people are able to better control their personal beliefs, which makes them less dependent on their attachment to religion.

In the study, people with the highest levels of intelligence maintained lower levels of religion than the general population.
