Drove To Work - Ended Up On The Sun

Everything was fine this morning. It was nice and cool out as the pump truck set up to pour concrete. Getting my tools from my car, across the dirt forms, and to the truck was easy. No sweat. Taking the cylinders I made back to my car was another story.

The sun came up and by 10:00 AM, it was baking outside in Southern California. We were pouring housing foundations in Otay Mesa to be precise. I remember seeing a spike in the temperature while checking the weather app a few days back. It was spot on.

If I hadn't of known better, I'd swear we were in the middle of August today. My job doesn't entail much physical labor. For every 150 yards of concrete that is poured, it requires a set of 4 cylinders. These go back to our shop, come out of their molds, and into a compression breaking machine.

Today we poured close to 300 yards for 5 foundations so I made 2 sets of cylinders. I set them aside to set, and took a short break. About an hour later, I didn't want to leave the air conditioner of my nice cool car. I'd get out every so often and check the progress but all it took was 10 minutes before I'd had enough.

Watching the guys on the board (that's the long 2x4 they use to pull and level the concrete), I don't know how they do it. Guess I'm just not young anymore, but no thanks for me. The guys were joking with me today that they should have kept on studying.

It was a relief to get out of there and on the road, back in my temperature conditioned vehicle. The traffic is light lately but idiotic drivers still abound. Plus you have to watch even closer for cops. Luckily, people think it's a good time to drive 100 mph +.

Despite the heat, all's well that ends well. I'm safely back home sitting in the shade on HIVE, sharing about the day. I didn't miss the incredible upward movement in the markets today either. All I can say is wow!

Hope everyone had a good safe day at work, home, or play if you were able. Happy Hiveing!!!

Nice camera you have there, those are some high-res images! Thanks for the follow, btw, I followed back. It is still cold where I am at, hoodies are necessary!

Oh I took those images from a website called Pixabay.com. They provide images from photographers that are free to use. It's a really helpful blogger's tool. I need to buy them more cups of coffee. Today I didn't take any pics of the job (though I did do a post a few days back).

I'll have to check out Pixabay sometime, thanks for the tip.

Yay!
