We all know by know which is the mos wanted profession in today's employment market. Yeah... you guessed it, programmers.
Arguably, the best coders I've seen so far, are the ones who started coding in very early age. Years ago, teaching a 12 years old kid to code was not that easy. There were no ready made platforms on which teachers could find an easy way to explain to kids the coding fundamentals, and it was much more harder to make it fun enough.
Today, we can see a really big number of kids (which is satisfying to watch!) who are into coding and surprised everyone with their results. And this is thanks to the platforms like code.org or scratch.org . Even in the developing countries like Kosovo, this is now very popular.
The thing kids love the most, are video games. So these platforms let kids play, while they're coding. And what's more fun than to code your own game ??!
Understanding concepts like variables, loops, conditions, functions and many more is a huge advantage for the kids. Best way to start is with code.org since it is the most simple one. Then going through scratch and then app inventor.
The results until here have been very good, in fact impressive. As the next step, kids are really getting into OOP through Game Engines like Unity. Being more complicated than everything they learned earlier, this takes more time and kids under 14 are not recommended to take the course. But the ones who make it, they have a bright future.
I have been a coding&robotics instructor for kids since 2014, and this is what I concluded based on my experience.
